Strap it onto a sturdy robot equipped with ballistic shields, throw a few flash bangs into the room before the robot enters.

I wonder how sophisticated the military's state of the art targeting systems are. How long will we have to wait before a new generation of drones enters the battlefield? And what kind of robots are they covertly working on? They must have some pretty impressive stuff by now.

Than you have a new set of problems

Heavy weapon with quick reaction time = you need a heavy robot, unless it is so sophisticated that it will use enviroment to brace itself.
Heavy robot in old frail building = heavy robot hits a floor below.

As for the targeting systems - probably very sophisticated and effective, just politics want to avoid giving AI a lethal weapon.

You don't have to have an FFL to own pre 86 nfa registered fully automatic weapons. You just have to fill out the paperwork pay $200 for the tax stamp and buy through an 02 or 07 FFL after waiting 3-9 months to get your stamp approved the dealer can transfer to you...

Class 2 & 7 FFL also let you buy and sell post '86 dealer sample guns. 07's can also manufacture NEW dealer sample and research guns, but the wheres and why's are beyond the scope of an ATS post.

Because of this, in order to buy one of the xm556 miniguns you'd need an active class 02 or 07 SOT license AND a letter of interest from a law enforcement agency. If you ever chose to give up the license it was bought under you'd have 6 months to transfer the gun to another 02 or 07 SOT with their own law enforcement Letter. If you fail to do so in this time period you must surrender the gun to ATF or be faced with very major felony charges WHEN they come to seize it.

This is why post 86' dealer sample guns are so much cheaper than pre 86' transferrable guns which anyone can own with the right paperwork.

Example: transferrable m16 goes for $20,000+ a post 86' sample can go as low as $1000.

The thing i find interesting is a Minigun with a motor is a class 3 weapon.

But if the same weapon is built without a motor drive and with a hand-crank it would be classed as a Gatling gun and would not be a class 3 weapon and could be owned by any law abiding person.

The first minigun was built by a navy officer during the civil war when he put a steam engine on a Gatling gun.
after testing it he wrote that the steam powered gatling gun was a useless idea as it took to much space to store the amount of ammo to keep it fed and a ammo factory to make the ammo for just one gun.
