[SNIPPED]

I was in total control the whole time. And most of the drive I obeyed all traffic laws, just speeding when it was clear to do so. Sorry to brag, but even in labor I'm a better driver than most people. Never reckless, never endangering anyone- despite your assumptions.

And I believe a woman in labor falls under 'emergency' by pretty much any definition, sooo folks casually heading to a BBQ should yield and let them pass. Not saying I'm more important, just saying it was a time sensitive, potentially life threatening situation for me, probably not for the people going UNDER the speed limit in the passing lane.

But, hey, next time you're in labor you're welcome to stay home and do it like they've been doing it for hundreds of thousands of years. Good luck with that!

i disagree with your stance on this. And you come off as very rude. I'll be sure to avoid your posts in the future.

So you were exaggerating in your OP?

Because your post makes it pretty clear you were driving like a bat out of hell.

So which is it?

Chalk it up to dramatic flare. Choose your battles, this one isn't worth the time. Celebrate the birth of one of our esteem members new baby girl, Scout!

I promise, next time LadyV is in labor she'll drive slower. K?

And even if the car is not honking and flashing lights you should still gtf over because the left lane is not a cruising lane (at least in my state).

Cute pics.

ETA:

And yes, those things you mentioned in your OP are all too annoying and commonplace. Because people are arseholes.

I was a police officer for 7 years (now disabled). I passed PVOC (police vehicle operation course) with flying colors. I've literally chased down car thieves & bank robbers- never wrecked or caused property damage. I don't get nervous until about 120. Good advice in my training "Whatever you think you can do, go 80%"...as in always stay on the safe side of what you THINK you can do.

Plus, here in Texas the speed limit is 70 on the highway. As a PP pointed out, a lot of people go 10 over....so people just going to work go 80 all the time.

Trust me, no one was in danger at any time. I was just really irritated at the time because I was giving every signal I could think of that I needed to get through and over and over people acted offended that I wanted in THIER lane, instead of just being cool and getting over. At this point it's just a crazy birth story. No harm, no foul.

Stop trying to explain and justify yourself to Watchitburn. Its probably a guy who will never experience giving birth so its easy for them to say stupid sh*t. Perhaps he should try squeezing a watermelon out of the tip of his penis. Congrats on the beautiful baby girl. I wish you both a lifetime of love, good health and happiness.

You may have more driving training then most drivers but you can't predict how other people on the road will react to you.

I've been through emergency vehicle operators course, and done the evasive driver's courses that the secret service guys go to. And I spent 8 years disarming IEDs in the Marine Corps, so I don't get excited or out of control either.

But I don't go driving 90 on the highway because it's reckless and illegal, but I guess being a former police officer in labor you probably wouldn't have to worry about getting ticketed.

But anyway, congratulations on your baby.

*relaxed holding the steering wheel with one hand and talking to the passenger doing 130mph*

Oh, traffic clears up - time to accelerate!

GERMAN AUTOBAHN, BABY!!

@OP: how about calling the police getting some kind of escort? Flashing lights from highway patrol should have cleared the way up, effectively.. But hey, I know the problem. Unless it was your 2nd child, which seems to come faster than #1 or #3, you might have had time, but the mother's mind (in my experience as father) seems to shut up/down and concentrates on ONE TASK ONLY: shouting at the father.. ;-)

Congrats!

I am so impressed-you drove yourself with your youngsters in the car? Just wow. That's a woman. No wonder the idiots on the road put you into hyper-rage mode. While in labor with my first I begged my husband to drive slower in the Minnesota ice and snow storm. He scared me more than the labor!

What I don't understand is why you didn't call for an ambulance? They would've gotten you to the hospital faster and safer and they have more experience of driving in emergency situations. I agree with WatchItBurn.

Realistically speaking, there are always loonies on tbe roads, and that will only stop being the case when there are no cars on the road at all.

However, hearty congratulations on the birth of the little treasure you posted
Now you can raise your little one to be a better driver!

Perhaps you should have used an ambulance rather than use a personal car for transportation? By speeding, you put yourself, others and that tyke in jeopardy. And your thread clearly shows that you took the chance.

I've hauled wife #1 and wife #2 to hospitals for deliver of my four children, quite a distance away, and never felt the need to put anybody's life in danger because of an impending childbirth, not the wives, the babies, other folks and myself.

These buffoons that are cruising in the left lane that are going slower than ALL the traffic around them should be fined and assessed for being mentally ill.

The police here are ticketing them at an amazing rate now, hopefully this will put a stop to the shenanigans.

It is hard to believe how one could feel comfortable with thousands of cars zooming up to them and passing on the right and feeling the hatred of each and every other driver on the road.

Perhaps they like it.

I'm preggers! I used to be a cop! I got taught by the secret service! That means I can drive fast if I want!
You're giving cops and good Texas took a bad name.

Congratulations 😊

The reality is, there exist no statistics anywhere in the world that support the notion that driving at the posted speed limit 'in the wrong lane' contributes to accidents - however,

there are statistics that support speed always being the main contributing factor in major accidents...all over the globe.

One wonders whom the 'wrong lane' regulations actually benefit from a safety POV. - according to the underwhelming statistical evidence to support any safety aspect whatsoever...
