Why are there still monkeys? Shouldnt they have all "evolved" into humans, or human-like beings by now?

How come chimpanzees, gorillas, orangutans and other types of monkeys aren't building their own primitive civilizations? Where are their cave paintings?

If evolution was true, shouldnt monkeys be resembling primitive cavemen by now?

Great question. I have asked the same thing many times.

I think we are alien to this planet!

Humans and apes evolved to fill different niches from a distant common ancestor.

More importantly what's the next evolutionary jump going to look like or would we even recognize it?

Have you ever listened to the answer? We did not descend from monkeys. No one has ever said that. But monkeys and us descended from a common ancestor long ago. Monkeys aren't even in our direct line. We are one of the Great Apes along with chimpanzees, gorillas, orangutans, and gibbons.

We are not alien to this planet. The paleontology of our evolution is fairly well established now and also confirmed from a completely different direction by DNA. Only the ignorant persist with this issue.

Now I'm caught in the middle
You're next to me
I swim with the fishes
You come from the sea
The dolphins were monkeys that didn't like the land
Walked back to the water
Went back from the sand
The dolphins were monkeys that didn't like the land
Should I be walking the beach
Then I'd be holding your hand yeeeaaaaa

Well, I fully agree with Richard Dawkins theory that extraterrestrials may have seeded life on earth, and that life on earth may contain the signature of an intelligent designer.

But if evolution were true why are there still monkeys still swinging from trees?

we wouldn't. a process of millions of year and stringent conditions must exis for our natural biology to adapt.

evolution is not necessarily something that must happen over time. it happens, still theoretically , as a survival measure through adaptation.
nothing simply automatically evolve simply because time passes by.

Saying humans evolved from monkeys is like saying that Pugs evolved from Labradors.

That's not how it works, at all. Pugs and Labradors both evolved from prehistoric wolves. Just like humans and monkeys both evolved from a distant ancestor. We are technically apes, you know.

Even though evolution is taking place all around us, for many species the process operates so slowly that it is not observable except over thousands or hundreds of thousands of years -- much too long to witness in a human lifetime.

I see you are new to ATS. I will be gentile: Humans and other hominids share a common ancestor - at least 6 million years ago. Homo Sapiens evolved from that ancestor, as did the modern apes, like chimps, as a result or random mutation, which was informed by natural selection. Chimps live pretty good in their environment - much better than you could. Natural selection most likely killed off any mutations that would have pushed them into a genetic path more like Homo.

Please do some reading to answer these questions before your post. You are about to get ... well, some very forward comments.
