Interesting poll before voting:

SOUNDS like this was a generational issue?

The UK has lost Scotland. I suppose that's the trade off, we'll see if it was worth it.

I finally know how all the Americans must feel every July 4th.

What better reason for beer, fireworks and grilling out!
edit on 24-6-2016 by Wardaddy454 because: (no reason given)

I've stockpiled shortbread and Irn Bru so I'll make a killing when the wall goes up.

Tartan tins and the orange magic will be black market gold.

Maybe now this decision will force the EU to take a long hard look at itself and sort out the huge problems it has had for years that have been swept under the carpet.

Already Italy Denmark and Sweden are rumoured to be talking referendum with 48% of Italians wanting to leave.

The EU Parliament refused to change and instead relied on threats and this is the result

Woohoo !!

As an Aussie I say, Awesome stuff, Well Done and Congratulations to the UK !!!
I knew you could put your Big Girl Pants on, be brave and go it alone, we do ok down here and I'm sure the "Mother Country" will as well.

I now have a small glimmer of hope that we the people can cut the head off the
Great Global Snake, this is a great start indeed !!

Maybe now we can have an AUExit from being part of the British Commonwealth.

Yeah, let's hope the racists and idiots don't take this as a green light. The NF, BNP and other hate-groups will be cheering as if the 17 million 'leavers' were voting to wear red armbands and black boots.

You must take your victory from them. I support nationalism, but I also don't want to empower the very bigots you speak of. Mind you, they will try to take advantage of the movement. You and those of like mind must defend your righteous stance on leaving the union. It will be hardship. You will be blamed, just as we all are. In the end, you know your heart, and you know your reasoning. Use it to defend your decision and country.

Your decision was not wrong. Never let the haters commandeer your movement.

Well I guess you can argue that the oldies had their vote in 1975 and now we are having ours. It would be interesting to compare this with general election voting and see which demographic has increased in numbers.

Haven't had an Irn Bru for years.

And the benifits of leaving the commonwealth would be?

Worthwhile pointing out that EU policy has led to colossal youth unemployment in some countries. I wonder if Spanish, Italian or Greek youth would vote differently from the more comfortably placed UK youth.

A massive poke in the eye to the Bilderbergers.

People are waking up and I am sure there will be stormy weather ahead, but we'll navigate our way through it and Britain will be stronger for it.

I notice calls for another Scottish Independence referendum. All I can say to that is, 'You can go your own way'.

One happy household here this morning.

What a night I am so happy Sky just confirmed out. I want to cry. My child hopefully will have a better future and although there will be storms ahead I think there will be bright sunshine at the other side because we will be free. I love you fellow Brits.

Going to Manchester soon with my son to celebrate when they read result.

That's my city and they voted to remain but I am so glad Britain is out.
I wonder what the Bilderberg plan B is?

I'm utterly shocked by the results. Almost everybody in power was for the stay. EU was for the stay. US also. Bookies said it's almost assured win for the stay. I listened to one of my EU parliament guys talking last night...she was pretty sure of stay vote.

wow....you Brits are my new heroes !!!!

Can my country join the UK ?
)))

Well a couple of the comments here about the fear over migrants , only echo what I just experienced this morning at 6am, not long after it was being reported that we were going to leave.

I heard the most ignorant comment ever on the way to get my papers. Two guys heading for the train, big smiles on their faces, saying how great it was that "their missus would be safe now as the walls can come up"!

The last guys to act in an innapropriate way to my daughters whilst in their school uniform were white English council workers. Although very apologetic once I'd threatened a killing spree, it still happened to an obvious schoolgirl.

Every van we were warned about prowling the school when my kids were younger was driven by white English blokes.

I worked in care for years where the kids had been subjected to all of the abuses. Again, always the white English family behind it. No gay couples, no foreigners...English!

I've heard people say this week that an Orlando type massacre won't happen here if we exit the EU. Most high profile shootings that I can remember....Michael Ryan at Hungerford, Thomas Hamilton at Dunblane, Raul Moat in Cumbria, and most recently, Thomas Mair shooting Jo Cox. All had something in common and it was their colour. Good old white British citizens.

I'm not saying crime doesn't happen with other cultures, because it does. I just hope people didn't vote thinking that today we'd wake up to a Britain that is like something out of Mary Poppins. Very sad if they did.

Oh and tomorrow my local city will be hosting a neo-Nazi demo in the main shipping centre, no doubt they'll now be chanting about the victory they have acheived. Not what I want in the country I live in.

CX.

Well said. This Brexit (what a bloody stupid word for it) has come about thanks to the far right and the xenophobic. This isn't a victory this is a loss. Still, I'm Scottish so there's a small chance we'll be back in the EU soon but that's a discussion for another day...

I'm sure you will now have another independence referendum, then you can go running back to the dependency of the E.U.
