We have to be willing to draw lines.

I honest was thinking about making a thread about asking lesser active members and lurkers to become more active so we can get more diversity on thought and less emotional knee jerking and snowflakeyness.

I think the anti-SJW are getting as annoying as the people their rallying against.

But yes that was rather silly that people were offended by it.

Only lines you can draw are to stop responding to it. Can't tell people how to post, and everyone has their own opinion of it and will obviously voice it. Coaxing lesser active members and lurkers into a debate like this could go either way. Likely they post infrequently if at all because they don't want to be called a snowflake.

You made a rant on May 29th saying it's wrong to police other people's language. You even made reference to Orwells 1984. EXACTLY what you're trying to do with this thread.

The word "snowflake", besides being a meaningless term outside of discussions regarding snow, has become a go-to insult for those who cannot insult any better. That's why we don't use these ridiculous terms in the first place, because 1) they a aren't true nor apt uses of the term, and 2) they can always be used by the ones they were originally supposed to be directed at.

If you want to insult someone properly, even beautifully, without the seductions and traps of nounism, tell the truth about him. Modify the noun with adjectives, or use metaphors, but never change the noun to another one.

A person can't have an epiphany? One sees something, maybe even part of the problem but "sees the light"? Why is he being attacked? Because of his message? Or because of his past?
