but Loury’s family maintained he was unarmed

I am to assume the family was out banging with their boy so that they know this as a fact?

The second most common phrase after "he was a good boy".

I am sorry this happened but when a person plays that game they some times lose.

It is what it is.

Sad to say this, but no other race kills more blacks than blacks. Every time I hear about another protest going down against police, or in support of black lives matter, it makes me absolutely sick.

It's not that difficult to avoid these situations. COMPLY. Don't run, don't resist. COMPLY.

Inner-city urban gang culture openly promotes an anti-authoritarian ideology, and violence against each other.
That being said, if I were a police officer, I would surely be ready at a moments notice to use deadly force if necessary; you have to be.

It's not hard to understand why some officers might be perceived as being 'trigger happy' in certain situations -
No different from the gang-bangers who walk around 'strapped', and even go out of their own way to purposely commit murder. Generally speaking.

No, you read that right and that's 100% on me. I thought the same thing when I read the article and went straight for a PC to see more.(I won't click on links from my phone). I totally forgot to add the pics from the shooting that makes it more clear.

I won't be by a PC for a while, so if anyone would search this story and help a moron out, I'd appreciate it!

Sorry people, I dropped the ball on this one.

I'm waiting for the facts to come out before I say anymore but I'm just saying it doesn't look like the kid was an angel unfortunately it seems he was glorifying the thug culture and not academia. We should all be condemning that sort of behavior as much as we bash police brutality.

Fair enough... but shooting a fleeing suspect in the chest well there jumping over a fence, seems like a kind of extreme and counter productive way to condemn the so called "thug culture" to me.

Yeah, I don't feel sorry for this kid. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

If you want to run from the cops, in Chicago of all places...probably knowing full well that the chances of them discharging their firearms has then greatly increased by trying to evade them, then you are single handedly taking you life into your own hands.

If you are innocent, you should probably present yourself as such. If you aren't, well...karmas a bitch ain't it?

Let me guess, he was a good boy and was supposed to go to college?

Indeed, and I don't condone the killing of this guy, but only if he wasn't a threat to police. I wasn't there, neither were you, I assume.

It's a vicious circle... One which won't be straightened out anytime soon. Unfortunately.

In other news, 100's of Chicago youth are killed by each other every year, but this is the only one that matters.

It comes down to whether he pointed a gun at the police. Fleeing but pointing a gun doesn't qualify as just fleeing to evade, it is a threat. Just my opinion though.

In other news, criminals will be criminals but it's the men in blue that we're talking about here.

That's like saying "thousands of people are raped every year, but this is the only one that matters." (If, say, it was done by the POTUS.)

It seems that someone needs to repeat this again, blacklivesmatter started for incidents between the cops and black men getting shot.

Can we all understand that at least, i know its tough for some to think outside the box.

Oh and dont waste my time i wont reply to this post.

Cops vs black men

It has nothing to do with gang violence, thanks for coming out.

Chicago police arrest two Black Lives Matter protesters

The ol' college try

Police arrested two people during a Black Lives Matter protest over the shooting death on Monday night of a black teenager by officers in Chicago, police officials and activists said on Wednesday.

Police said that the protesters became unruly on Tuesday night as they reached a police station on Chicago's West Side. Two hundred to three hundred people initially protested peacefully.

A 17-year-old female from Chicago was charged with causing less than $300 of property damage, a misdemeanor, after she climbed on top of an unmarked Chicago police squad car and jumped on top of the roof and trunk, police said.

I took a trip downtown, Chicago, today. There are some protests going on, but that is no surprise in Chicago.

I did see something, however, that has me worried. Something I have not seen in other protests. Protesters turning toward cars and reaching under their hoodies or jackets, like they are reaching for a gun, while shouting the typical hate speech. I almost drew my side arm the first time it happened. And I realized what they are probably trying to do - get people to threaten them so they can "defend themselves".

I see this getting much worse before it gets better. My instinct was to protect my wife and my self first. I know I am not the only one who will react that way. This is a tactic I had not experienced prior to tonight. Its not going to end well.

It's like this...I'm a black guy...with a white great great grandpa on my dad's side, and by appearances, to society and the police, I'm a black dude and I'm cool with that. Having said that, this crap is ridiculous. It's not like this kid was just sitting back and enjoying a burger at the local burger joint and some cops just came in guns ablazing. Granted, there are instances where law enforcement goes overboard but seriously... If you play stupid azz games, you win stupid azz prizes. This dumbazz won. And not to get off topic, but this goes back to the BLM "movement". I'm all for equality for everyone but I'll be damned if I would protest for some silly azz thug. If it were up to me, I'd ship the vermin among us REAL black Americans to Planet friggin X. BLM really ought to be protesting in the hood's of Chicago and Detroit for real. And again, this is coming from a " black" guy.

There are a hundred reasons why an individual can get shot. He could have been propped on top of the fence and pulled the gun and thus gotten shot. Stranger things have happened.

I totally agree man.

I also believe that a equal rights group should be inclusive in its membership and represent all races and nationalities if it truly wants to break down barriers.
