A basement fire at the IRS headquarters in Washington means the facility will remain closed for the rest of the week.

www.theeventchronicle.com...#

The building has been closed since people were evacuated Monday afternoon. More than 2,000 people, including the tax agency’s senior executives

One of the reasons (or THE MAIN reason) for closing the building for the rest of the week is because the fire reportedly affected the building's air-handling system.

2nd Source, Wall Street Journal: link

Anyone think there could be more to this story? Or is this completely unrelated to the Panama Papers? There have been plenty of IRS scandals... remember the scandal involving IRS targeting conservative tea-party groups? Wouldn't be the first "nothing to see here" news story

"Don't worry folks - just a minor fire, building will be closed all week but it's just due to ventilation concerns" *spokesman walks away from podium, instructs his # 2 to "call in the cleaning crew and scrub the place from top to bottom STAT"

Is it THAT easy to just get rid of evidence? Federal Government - zero accountability, HIGH volume and frequency or corruption taking place, and alllll us stupid sheep are just along for the ride

That seems like a terribly suspicious coincidence.

I can't get into your Wall St Journal link, and there's not much news elsewhere (over here, anyway) but it might seem as if someone wants people out of the building during tax season.
Well spotted.

If Mr. Trump offered odds in His ¢a$ino that paid off that something in the Panama Papers has a link or 3 w/whatever got burned, I'd be headed to A.C. right now..

Perhaps they needed some 'confirmation' first and needed the IRS stuff to compare, ... The Panama Papers reads that 'Jerry Stevens- reported an income of $356,987.00 of taxable income yet He deposited $4M USD in Panama. Jerry would then be upset. Now there is no evidence to compare, so now instead of going to PRISON for tax evasion, Jerry (fake name, these turds would sue Me for slander if I used a real name..) now just has to pay taxes on the newly discovered $4M...

I just feel it's a pity the whole for profit organization didn't burn to the ground.

Oooops.. I forgot-

Either that or they do what Agent Zuck did w/the fraudulent farcebook™ IPO.. Biggest IPO in the history of mankind and it is a computer company and the excuse for the delay was "computer hiccups"? really? Then after THEY gathered up $100B of FRAUDULENT income, using greedy suckers to pay THEM off..

Then to seal the deal... Agent Zuck surprises everyone He has ever known and gets married in Ca. Ca. is a 50/50 split on the D-I-V-O-R-C-E so Agent Zuck marries another Agent who will legally be entitled to HALF the $100B when/if folks ever discover farcebook™ is nothing more than a big seine to suck up info and keep track of everyone that associates w/it's tentacles...

The IRS has a database that can be brought up at any IRS building in the country. Closing the main building to cover up records would be a wast of time.

I worked at a hotel where we had a small fire in the restaurant at the bottom floor.

Because the ventilation system brought the smoke around in the whole building, we had to shut down for 3 weeks for cleaning.

If there actually was a fire, i don't see anything unusual with this.

That's what they are banking on ( people's short attention span ) and its pretty sad bc many will.

This isn't acceptable and its very far from being original. If it wasnt so horrible, it would be laughable.

You gotta wonder what the public reaction would be if this was another nation...

do we know if it would it be possible that someone with a lot to lose (and administrative privileges) could access this database to play with it, and then also destroy the hardcopy which could have corroborated?

Might be a temporary move until they find a plane to fly into something.

Oh yea? The same kind of database that Clintons emails should have been saved on? This is the IRS we are talking about here. They literally claim they cannot find convienent things all the time and that is without the fire.

Always count on MrSpad here to pull excuses for our government concerning extremely suspicious events.

Lol! Of course the basement caught fire.

Should have seen that coming.

No way in Hell that'll be the last mysterious fire destroying financial records.

Look for myriad fatal single vehicle accidents, "suicides", unexplained disappearances and outright murders in the near future too.

No excuse because it makes zero sense. You just said they are known for losing things so why not just say that. Then again the Panama papers barely have any Americans because the company focused on Europe and Latin America, the Americans they did accept are expats in Panama. What would their be to hide? If anything this would give the IRS the excuse to look into some peoples claims. You can not just make up a conspiracy that holds no logic.

But this is ATS, so conspiracies that don't hold logic seem to be the new thing lately.

So exactly where is the conspiracy here?

An electrical fire contained to the room they have electrical equipment not their computer files is not a conspiracy, but had it been where the files are stored you might have something.

The only reason this is big news is because it is tax time and people need to know they can still file taxes. If it weren't tax time you probably wouldn't hear much about it.

This has nothing to do with the Pamama Papers but because you use a source that tries to connect them you believe there may be a conspiracy...good job jumping to conclusions.
