Put your energy into creating content rather than bashing ATS

Sorry,
I'm sick of all of these threads worried about how much SO and company bring in and wah wah, I had to see an ad.
Welcome to reality. Ads are everywhere. South Park did a great job last season detailing how ads have become a part of our collective consciousness and are virtually inescapable.
Deal with it, peeps.
Maybe channel your anger into creating an original thread of worth.
And before the angry crowd comes after me, yes, I am as guilty as the rest of you, I sit back on my laurels and expect others to entertain me. But I'm not going to take it out on the forum because there is an ad or two on it. Bfd. Don't click on it. Suck it up, buttercup. Or go somewhere else...ATS will be here without you.

Yeah, butch, at least I'm honest about it.

Sigh. I just created what IMO was a great reply to the thread complaining about ads that was just removed, but by the time I hit "Reply" I received the "You do not have permission to post here" message and the whole thing was lost! That person, who had less than 20 posts to his credit, was whining like a 12 year old.

I agree that ATS has the right to manage the site as they see fit and have said so many times. I roll my eyes in particular at those who claim their constitutional free speech rights are being violated on a private web site. ATS has no obligation to disclose business issues to any of the members here.

ATS is the kind of site where if you claim something, there will always be someone else who will challenge you to prove it. Declarative statements of truth are usually challenged. And in this case ATS came to the membership and pleaded poverty (For the pedantically challenged, it's paraphrased. Yes, I know the word "poverty" was not used. Moving on...) ATS is under no obligation to bring up the issue. They could just as well say, "Ad blockers are against T&C. End of story." The ONLY reason this is an issue today is because they have implemented an "ad blocker checker" that prevents the many people who use them anyway against T&C to be caught out. Prior to this declaring it was "against T&C to use an ad blocker" was an empty threat. Now, it's not.

That's why the issue has come to the forefront. ATS is not required to disclose financial information, but they are the ones who brought it up. Now people, many of whom HAVE made substantial "user-provided content" to the site are asking the same thing the sniveling 12 year old asked in his now-removed thread.

It's true this is a privately owned web site. It's true that you don't have to come here. It's true the owners can run the site as they wish. No laws are being broken. BUt the question, by virtue of ATS having brought it up themselves, is legitimate.

Prove it.

I just did the same thing. Nice long 3 paragraphs I was pleased with then bam...closed.
I hate it when that happens. lol

So tired of the ad threads. It's the T&C's everyone signed, deal with it.

And me, I even kept it to a minimum and ignored the typing errors to try and get it in before it went...

It's getting a bit boring now but is better than 2012 and ebola I guess. First world problems and all...

Threads about how ATS is not how it used to be are nearly as old as ATS.

I think they come with the job as it where, part of it and nothing you can do about it.

A bit like old people in supermarkets rambling on about how it was better off in their day when things were better and everything was cheaper and there where not so many coloured people and folks respected their elders and so on....

Depends on my mood.

Sometimes I'll come here to read only, sometimes to find out whats happening, still others to contribute good, fair or just average content, many times to argue, debate or just for a laugh.

Bashing the site never comes to mind...

Contributing good content is an option but not a requirement.

Meh. I agree with you to a point, but the ATS of the pre-2008 days was some great reading. I know I joined in 2010, but I was a longtime lurker.
Now everybody wants to argue politics.
I would name names, but we all know who they are.

So much more goes on under this fabulous star we call the sun that could be brought to a greater audience.
