Have you written or contacted Microsoft to let them know you don't like the direction they are taking?

I encourage you to do so.

Come on folks. The topic is taking action. Contact Microsoft, and tell them what you think and want.

Don't just complain about it here.

So, who is forcing you to be at the mercy of this horrendous operating system.

You have free alternatives, that so many people rave about.

Yet demand that something you choose to use, be something you prefer over what is on offer?

I might lobby Ford to make cars with wings so I can fly, do you think if I get enough people to complain about wingless cars we will get them to stop what they're doing and obey us?

Or ... do I just go buy a small plane, perhaps... idk, I demand something anyway...

Good point but... would Microsoft be concerned that people don't like what they are turning out?

The PC industry doesn't have many options when it comes to Op Systems.

What I wish would happen is that somebody would take MS to court and say that old OS's that have been cast aside, can be taken and upgraded by others to be resubmitted for use.

Like... used cars.

If people were forced to use something, then this might be a worthy agenda. However, no one is holding a gun to your head and saying "You vill use dis Operatin system, unt you vill love it!!!!"

Don't buy it. I'm sure that would cause them more concern to listen, than people just telling them how to run their business..

I am so confused that people think this way...

and just ftr, I use windows 10. Much prefer it to 8/8.1 and that was a lot better than 7.

pretty sure I am not being recorded and spied on, considering I know how to use the os...

You don't own the software when you purchase it, you are just licensed to use it. But by all means if you want to use an outdated version of Windows that no longer will be receiving security updates be my guest. Just don't complain about poor MS security when you have a problem.

Obviously, you have not read the myriad of threads about Windows 10 since its release. If you had, you would know why I posted this one.

And cars with wings are hardly a comparison at this point. A century from now...maybe.

Which is one of the options I gave in the OP, if you had read it.

Good on you. I don't know much about operating systems or computers myself.

I do NOT want to OWN anything.
What I would LIKE to see is that those with the ability, be allowed to enter into expired OS's and complete upgrades to then render them more than adequate for this ever-changing age.

My personal experiences in dealing with Microsoft, dating back to 1997, have been nothing but hopeless headaches wrapped in moronic public service employees and automated responses that, at one time, suggested that I remove my hard drive and take it to a MS approved shop for inspection.

My question submitted? Simply asking to contact a corporate, biological entity.

I have had zero problems with Win 10 functionality, other than some annoyances. It's stable and fast. But I do have problems with Microsoft's continued hybrid approach to the UI, instead of releasing a polished and finished product.

The design changes starting with Windows 8 weren't a failure to "release a polished and finished product." They're simply following current design trends that eschew skeuomorphism and gimmicky ornamentation in favor of cleaner design and seek to provide uniformity across multiple platforms (including SaaS web apps). This isn't something that is unique to either Windows, Microsoft products or even operating system.

Remember how popular Myspace once was? I believe a large part of what enabled Facebook to rapidly dismantle Myspace's enormous market share was a backlash against the excessive customization of Myspace profiles.

By all means push back about what you don't like but you should also understand that what you're seeing isn't a result of a lack of concern.

We still use 7.If that ever becomes obsolete we will find something else,i expect. It's not that one Has to use 10? Not about the spying, that's the least of my concerns, one's always being spied on.But i've heard a lot of people being dissatisfied with 10,so i would like to just skip all that hassle if possible. We use Kaspersky on our devices so that's a help, even if 7 is outdated by now.

Understood, but I disagree. 8 and 10 are not polished and finished. They are poorly implemented hybrids of old and new. I have no problem with them keeping up with current design trends. But finish the job before unleashing it on the public. Just my opinion, and I do see where you're coming from.

But have you written them, Murgy?

Bill Gates is nothing more than a genocidal treasonous criminal and deserves to be arrested for his CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY.

These types could care less what "useless eaters" have to say.

Write all the letters you want, I think it's a complete waste of time.

Microsoft sales only serve to support the UN's global genocide program.

Gates is a MURDERER who has pledged $4.3 billion to finance the UN’s global genocide program.

The Gates Foundation is also directly responsible for 10,000 vaccine-related deaths.

One day his crimes against humanity WILL finally catch up with him.

Oh, good luck with getting them to care. My husband was a monkey on their back about a sound issue a Win10 update created, despite having up-to-date audio drivers. It was some time ago now, and they did eventually fix it in an update, but it had a habit of resetting the audio settings or not having audio at all (it was like Gump said every logon, like a box of chocolates because he never knew which he was going to get)
He bitched on their FB page, and they kept deleting his comments, and others' complaining about the same glitch.

It finally ceased being an issue in either November or December with an update, but they never openly acknowledged it.

True enough. Gates is not one of the good guys.

But I still believe the public has the power to corral these guys to some degree on products, if they just will.

I have most of my Windows games running under linux at this time.

I hope this is not off-topic , and take no offense , but why do you feel the need to run Windows games under Linux ? Back in the days of the earlier Windows XP and Vista us geeks did. Because the OS was a tremendous resource hog. So we set up VMs to run our games (the ones we could) to counter this. with the advent of 7 , then 8 , then 8.1 this was no longer needed. Now with 10 I check resources every now and then (yes I still get nervous) and with the OS running , antivirus , Steam , GOG , and other programs running the resource usage is still very close to zero.

I beg to differ . There are so many , I cant keep track anymore. However , we all "cut our teeth" on Windows.I have been through every variation since Windows 3.1. With that being said - Microsoft finally got it right (took 30+years) , With Windows 7 , 8 , 8.1 they set the stage for Windows 10. Little resource usage , finally some actual "good" goodies , and perfect for gamers.
