Some are still vehemently swearing it happened right in front of them.

Stop believing ancedotes when the actual event is being shown to not be what they are saying...
They can say what ever they want, that doesn't make it true.

I thought it would not hurt to ask.

Then next time just ask, don't go one this rant about what it means if it is true.
Not asking very objectively at that point.

I'm not local, I just said the local news reported on it.

Honestly I'm gonna chalk this up to somebody found a picture of the rally from two weeks ago and said it was an IS March from a couple days ago. I sincerely doubt that less than two weeks after an anti-IS rally that made the news there would be a pro-IS rally that not only didn't make the news but had police protection given to it.

Trump is banging the anti-Islam drum as hard as he can. In the grand scheme of things I see one of his lackeys jumping on this as infinitely more likely than this being a pro-IS rally that was kept hush hush. I really can't believe that people who live in Dearborn wouldn't have been blowing up the media and Internet about it.

That is probably what happened.

I don't trust the media to report anything.

Matter of fact I've had tons of stories written about me and my business.

Never once, has the media got it right...Not once.

If my OP upset you....Too Bad.

You write your OP, I'll write mine.

Again 20 replays attacking me. Nothing on topic, nothing.

"Three of the most deceptive people on this site."

Of course I have made mistakes, I have no problem swallowing my pride and admitting it when I do. I also fully expect to be called out, especially on ATS, when I do.

I'm not going to ever be nice regarding hateful rhetoric that fuels violence towards people. Your OP was a hell of a lot more than asking if the picture was what Trump is claiming it is and none too graceful when countered with the facts that did indeed answer those two questions.

Everyone gets burned sometimes by something we believe is true due to our preconceived notions, everyone. I agree with the hateful rhetoric thing, and as much as I like whyamihere's posts, this thread was incendiary at the least. The believability factory lies in the fact that Dearborn has a huge Muslim population for being in the North central part of the US. I figured it could have went either way, but because my social media inboxes weren't full of "ISIS MARCH IN MICHIGAN!!!" I kinda figured it wasn't true. But now that this is settled can we all just move along? We need some doom porn...STAT! To keep us all one big happy ATS family.

Didn't upset me at all, and hardly attacking you.

I am voicing my opinion after getting called deceptive, you know the first personal attack thrown out here...

Sorry you perceive that as an attack.
And yes saying to not believe anecdotal accounts is on topic, or why else would you bring them up?

It was probably very intentional to misprepresent the date of the rally. Considering that most people that post was meant for wouldn't bother checking to see if it was true or not or if they did they probably typed something similar to: ISIS rally Dearborn Michigan December 18 2015.

Sometimes it's extremely easy to spot BS. Hate clouds the mind, bypasses critical thought. I have been there myself, often. It is constant practice to fact check my own hate, not always successfully.

Be that as it may, anti-Islam is a big story. At a minimum I would expect fox to pick it up and run with it. I don't believe for a second "they" could pull off a media blackout on something like this.

IMO when something like that is posted in the political mud pit forum the poster is asking for hateful rhetoric.

Now that the thread has been moved to LOL it will fall into obscurity.

Full moon on Christmas and an asteroid is whizzing past us at the same time... surely there's a prophecy or prediction that covers this scenario somewhere...

I still expect Cthulhu to awaken and throw his hat in for the Republican nomination. Maybe the "stars are right" with the astronomical phenomena you describe. He(or is it simply, It?) could be the candidate all repubs could back

I have no hate for anybody.

I am not voting for Trump.

I couldn't find anything for that date. Just two days ago.

I obviously made a mistake and have apologized to the board.

Yet, I'm still getting called names....

No biggie Bro. You've got a big ass country there. It has SO many different facets to it. If you were familiar with the region you would have known this wouldn't fly. You didn't so you asked. I see no reason for insults.

Well, this is a fight for my kids future.

I am glad this is not true.

The people attacking me always do so I'm used to it.

Their entire ideology has been rejected by the Nation.

And you're right. I don't know the region at all. I'm glad it wouldn't fly.

Just wanted to tell you I don't view you any different.
We all fall for something or another that is a total falsehood or a half truth. The world is a much different place than the one we grew up in. The Information Age is here to stay and our interconnectivity is just increasing to the point where if something is put out on social media it can become worldwide news before it is even fact checked. The more emotion behind headlines=more clicks=more nickels in advertising revenue.
Be yourself, be real, and remember that nearly everyone here will have forgotten about this thread in a few months time. Learning experience for us all.

I'm with whyamIhere, there doesn't seem to be to much certainty either way on this one. I'm still lookin.

Thanks,

The people trying to tell me they have the facts...

Are three of the most deceptive people on this site.

I doubted this picture that's why I posted it.

Not to mention that the LOL forum was specifically created for squelching issues that could be EXTREMELY dangerous and inflammatory, and might also be true.

I say there's approximately equal proof for both sides being proffered.

Except the OP's post is not based in any truth at all. I did provide search returns, has anyone bothered to read any of the links therein? If not, it is tantamount to sticking one's fingers in their ears and screaming "LALALALALICAN'THEARYOULALALALA." Being deliberately obtuse does not help one's argument, and is just pathetic when full refutation is established.

Full refutation established by a news broadcast? Is that supposed to be funny?

We have witnesses alleging this actually happened and a news story claiming it didn't. I still consider it possible that it happened and was covered up. Common practice in mainstream media.

News = fact? Since when?

Thanks, I appreciate the kind words.

I jumped the gun. I should of waited.

Be sure and hang around for the fireworks next year.

I'm waiting with bells on, man, for the fireworks...WITH BIG ASSED BELLS!!!

Gonna be a fun year. My New Years resolution is to not post too much in political threads unless it's a snarky comment or three.

We all get punchy sometimes...it's not that big of a deal in the whole scope of the Universe.

I'll extend an olive branch too, I may have gotten heated when the implication of people being the biggest deceivers was thrown out
Apologies.

Who is calling you names?

No one.

You are the one that called people liars and you still haven't apologized for it.
