DDoS Attack on ATS Happening Now

We experienced a few low-level attacks about two hours ago, then a bigger one... and continued significant attacks.

Our mitigation service is, so far, doing a good job of keeping everything running normally. However, some users might experience brief delays in page loads.

As far as we can tell right now, the attack is from a broad range of sources; so there's not much hope of discovering who might be the originating source.

Another attack just subsided.

It's not clear why we are a target. It might be related to Sandy Hook denial topics hitting again -- which was a verifiable cause a year ago -- or it could be part of a larger-scale attack on alternative news.

Our embedded sources can't pinpoint any chatter specific to ATS, which might indicate a larger-scale attack. But still not certain.

I'm not noticing any difference. Your mitigation tactics seem to be working nicely.

I saw on another site... that there is a massive wave of attacks originating from China, on a scale not seen before mostly attacking somewhere in Cali, could it be related?

This was from data from the norse website, i would link but I'm on my phone and can't atm.

:ETA i am in CA and i haven't noticed any lagg at all.

What is it about this place that makes people spaz out like that? It's always been like this. A single pissed off user turns into a virtual riot of sorts. I feel like ATS is that ex-girlfriend that nobody can get over.

I haven't noticed much lag here either, but I suppose there may be things going on at the back end where we would may not even know an attack is happening.

Obviously whatever tools ATS has to combat this attack are working, so far!

ATS policy is good at teaching people decorum.
Some people don't like that and end up on the ban wagon
And decide rage DDoSing is the solution.

That's my theory anyway.

But like the Big man said it could be due to SH or just some strange targeting of alternative outlets.

For what ever reason.

Who knows really.

Yeah , sounds like it. In the past when being attacked it really hurt. The lag was painfulm,this time however seems smooth. Again no issues here.

Lets see if anyone else is Having issue's or not having them.

Apart from harvesting data on people on ATS, the only other likely explanation is that someone has published something TPTSNB do not want said are trying to delete it, ie the truth about something.

Suggest keeping and eye on threads and those that disappear.

I had some issues earlier when posting my short story. I didn't quite realise it was a DDoS though and thought it was on my end. Restarted the computer and it was still happening and other websites were working fine and that's when 2 - and - 2 clicked together in my head! Haha.

But it's fine now it was mainly just a 10minute or so hiccup for me.

What do you mean harvesting data? What are they gona get from ATS , an Email?...lol

Not always. It goes deeper than that a lot of the time. Though I do miss the days where it was just a simple defacement of the communist kind. At least those didn't do nearly as much damage, financially and otherwise.
