hmm - i have arrived at this thread late , but :

what an utterly assanine " one sided " hypocritical ` controversy `

no offence to CharlieSpeirs he is just reporting the " news "

but IF the notion that telling people not to go to church is controversial and " offensive " to believers

then what the hell is the constant clarion call " come to church " - to anyone who currently doesnt ?

cultists cannot have it both ways

Seriously!

That was a lot of unnecessary drama over wording and interpretation.

A simple explanation would have sufficed.

If an atheist would be offended by a billboard asking you to go to church (which of course 100% are), then why would they post a billboard asking you to skip church? It's like two six year olds trying to see who can annoy each other more.

Absolutely ridiculous, I'm an atheist (one who has no faith in deities) and I couldn't give a toss what religious people put up on signs etc, it doesn't offend me in the slightest.

It's getting tiresome that some folk misuse the term 'atheist' still on ATS.
I don't believe in any gods, that's the only requirement to falling into the category of atheist.
I do not assert 'there are no gods', I just do not believe there are, due to the obvious lack of evidence.

Now you might say a militant atheist or an anti-theist may be offended by religious signs etc, I don't know, can't answer for them, but as an average run of the mill non-god-believing atheist I am not offended at all.
I treat all religions with equal ridicule yes, but offended? Nope, that's just silly.

The offended seem to be the believers as their reaction shows to the few signs atheists have put up across the country.

The message and support is for "closet atheists". Those who continue to go through the motions, but don't believe ---- probably so as not to offend someone.

I don't care if someone believes. I do care if they involve it in politics to the point it affects my life.

Another attack on Christianity, seems endless

Why isn't their a billboard saying skip the mosque, the temple as well?
It's not ok politically to offend any religious people but Christians these days

this world is becoming stranger by the day, no wondine er there is a rise in fundamentalism

Probably because christians will ignore the attacks while ismam would kill them.
could you imagine billboards like that at ramadan.

I guess Christians make a soft target for all these cool kids, wont pick on the Muslims due to fear.
Its only to be expected

Seems like no one wants fundamentalist Muslims going "Charlie H" on them

Jesus died to set sinners free from sin
The whole world is broken and falling apart very quickly
You want negative, pick up the paper, watch the news.
Isis, Russia turkey, guns, terrorists, murders, the list is endless

Negative, look around, just look around

There is no promise of peace and happiness on earth
There is a promise of peace and happiness after earth, that's the positive

Or should I pretend life is all candy, cuddles and joy

Maybe I should be positive when I watch the news, watch the slaughter, watch army's confronting each other, maybe I should just be happy and enjoy it all
Be positive and pretend it doesn't effect me, pretend I don't care, that's healthy, just become mindless

I tried it, it didn't work

My hope is in Jesus, not pretending happiness

Lifespans the world over are longer than they have ever been.
Disease and starvation are at record lows.
This is the first time in human history where there hasn't been any real war, and even few battles are going on.
Violent crime has been steadily dropping all over the world.
Charity is at record highs.
Political systems are more transparent and less corrupt than any time in history.
Several diseases have been wiped out.
New advances in science and mathematics are happening all the time.
Travel is becoming easier and easier.
Nearly everyone on the planet has unlimited access to the worlds collective knowledge through the internet.

And I could continue. What you see as the end times I see as the pinnacle of human civilization. There are challenges to be sure, we don't live in a perfect world but times just keep getting better for the planet as a whole.

Yes and the Great War, world war 1 was the war to end all wars

A new world, a global peace, a new era had begun.

Heard it all before, go live in Africa or the Middle East even most of Asia are stripped by western country's

Nice rose colored glasses you wear, very western.
