I haven't really kept up with much of the story, maybe you have the info mate...

Was this guy a vet or a rookie...

Not to exonerate him in any way, but it seemed like the "work" of the very inexperienced.

The $5m offer before a lawsuit was damning enough, with the footage it's simple to see why it was offered, and why the footage was held for over a year.

Sad .......That cop is a POS. He didn't need to kill him. Bullets were ricocheting of the pavement after going threw kid while he was already down. That guy is one sick .......you fill in the blank.

BUt he was high on PCP. Thats why he had to get those last 11 or 12 shots in while he was on the ground. You know because he was high..

Apparently the twitching that accompanied each impact was construed as aggressive.

I just watched the video *without sound.

All I can think of is.... the old song..

"The Night Chicago Died"

What the hell has happened to the police in the USA. Seriously.

Being convicted of murder is the 1st of this cops (ex) problems.

Will Chicago survive this.

I knew when I saw ol' Emauals presser earlier that it was going to be ugly.

Well that was just about disturbing...

It's a very good thing that, though many of you won't agree, that the vast majority of cops aren't like this.

That was about as far over the top as we're ever likely to see. Damn. This cop needs to go to jail...doesn't Illinois have the death penalty, or is it still on moratorium?

Here is another revelation to this story. If true, all involved with a cover-up should be charged.

In what other circumstances in life would a murderer get over an entire year to "get their story straight"...

Outside of Law Enforcement I can't think of one...

Maybe military in extenuating circumstances.

This was a terrible shoot, not that there is many good kinds, but it looked like bullet number 1 subdued the perp instantly...

So much for all the "PCP turns people into Rhinos" arguments.
This guy became a sack of potatoes.

Terrible.

The kid went down at 5:32. There is another impact at 5:48. 16 seconds after he goes down and we see him moving nothing but his head, arms in front of him in plain sight, the officer is still firing.
I'd say this video alone is going to send him to prison.

Yeah saw this news on Gawker too. That why i said policed can't Hide and Lie anymore. With internet information goes around so fast.

Police in USA seem corrupt as hell, only lawyer/laws + Public being upset/riot force then to start bringing their faulty cop in court.

Time seem to move on, thanks to Camera and Cellphone camera and internet ( even if these 2 created the "Selfie" culture lol... )

Lawyers now should start to gather and defend public against Cops, because they are not "protected/can't lie or hide" anymore.

Hope the cops deleting PROOF at burger are arrested too!

Agree with everything you state.

You have to wonder how often this happens that it's not captured on camera or video?
Most importantly though, how often do they cover-up video evidence in big/small towns across America?

I know they are not all bad, but they protect the ones that are to not tarnish their force in whole.

"Jason Van Dyke, 37, has been a Chicago police officer since 2001. According to the Chicago Tribune, he has spent most of his career working in high-crime areas.

He spent four years working for a specialized unit that “aggressively” went into neighbourhoods experiencing spikes in violent crimes, the Tribune reports. The unit was disbanded by police Superintendent Garry McCarthy."

Also complaints of racial slurs filed against him previously...

Edit;
I'd be more inclined to go with a roid rage adrenaline dump than racially motivated...

But I guess only one person will ever know the full truth.
He can think about that behind bars.

To be fair, PCP can and often does have that effect on people. This just wasn't one of those times.

Gotcha, I'm trackin.

Looked to me that the first shot incapacitated McDonald either totally or nearly so. The rest was just....mind blowing.

The worst part for me was, not knowing the timing of events yet, wondering why they weren't approaching him to secure him yet and then...

BOOM...more impacts visible.

Holy. Bad word.

The crickets in this thread is so loud, I think they blew out my ear drums. The Police apologists making it loud and clear that if they can't find a way to defend grotesque police actions...Then Silence it is.
