Large scale police operation underway in city center of Brussels. No MSM source, just seeing tweets from reporters on the ground. One advises that his hotel is under lockdown status and there are soldiers in the lobby advising people to go back to their rooms.

Other tweets are saying residents are being told to stay inside and away from windows in their houses.

Will update with sources as soon as I get something other than Twitter.

Sounds serious.

I'll have a look for info too.

There's a link on sky news from 13 hours ago saying Brussels is under lockdown because of a terror threat.

Mixed reasons being given. Salah Abdeslam is trapped and desperate....12 suspects being hunted before they can perform similar Paris attacks.....

I'm not sure if anything has happened in the last few hours, but Belgium is on the highest state of alert with at least one wanted terrorist on the run somewhere.

Police and soldiers are apparently in public places, guarding transport networks. Schools are closed for the next few days, people are told to be vigilant.

This is new on twitter. Guests at the Radisson Blu told to stay in their rooms. Police operation underway near Grand Palace. Residents told to stay inside and away from windows. Shops were just now told to close.

I think this is apart from schools and public transport being closed Monday.

Excellent point, I hadn't noticed, cheers.
What are the chances of two terrorist attacks in one week at Radisson Blu hotels in different countries?

Odds seems very small, the hotel chain is owned by Carlson Companies.

There are 380 of them and popular for western tourists to stay in. Though it seems coincidental.

Coincidental only applies within a certain time frame.
2 Radisson blu happenings in 1 week...

The attack in Mali was carried out by a group affiliated with Daesh.

It is managed by Carlson Rezidor Hotel group with many different private owners.

The Mali attackers were Algerian al Queda affiliates, not Daesh.

There was 1 terrorist attack on 1 Raddison Blu. If the other was about to be attacked, I think it would be evacuated rather than on lock down. It happens to be near police operations.

If you look at reviews of the hotel from locations all over the world, you will see 'city center' or '5 minutes walk from city center'.
