Just about every Naval weapons expert say this is just a scare tactic and that the weapon would, well be pretty ridiculous. Doing that much damage to the environment is something no sensible person thinks about. Putin is probably just trying to get a rise out of the environmental goons at the UN before they have their summit. We all know what he thinks of them and I cant agree with him more. Putin knows better than to waste money on foolish projects like they did during the cold war.

Yeah, totally agree there. This crazy guys need to be stopped or else we just end up killing ourselves off.

If not the actual blast and heat from the nukes, then the radiation will eventually see our demise.

But we the people can change all this. We have given too much power to these wicked man and now we are at a cross roads whether to continue as a species or die out as a result of our own actions or inactions.

It depends on the use of material. Cobalt can be used as an anti-infectant and sterilization tool. Not sterilization by fire, either. It also seems to only affect certain area with fallout. Not sure which specifically, but I read that it helps photosynthesis.

All bluster and BS. 100 megatons is probably the biggest weapon ever built. The Tsar bomb "Russian AN 602" was only 50 mt. It would have all kinds of design problems. It just mite go off from the radiation flux when arming it.

You can do more damage with smaller, well placed weapons, that much radioactive material would be easy to track and destroy.

What makes this special or unique?

Naval-launched missiles? Old news.

Naval-launched nuclear missiles? Old news.

Ultra-powerful / ultra-stealthy torpedoes? We already have all kinds of Russian "super-cavitating" torpedoes. Old news.

Submarines that launch nuclear missiles? Old news.

Submarines that launch a weapon capable of creating a tidal wave? Old news.


The big reveal is that the new submarine-launched nuke that can create a tidal wave is also a torpedo?

Anticlimactic. It is reminiscent of a dungeons and dragons player struggling to explain how a poison-tipped flaming demon sword is a whole mess scarier than a plain vanilla flaming demon sword. I am just not impressed.

Do the Russians even need such a weapon .

If they are developing this as a Cobalt weapon, it would turn the whole world against Russia and rightly so. There is a reason that even during the Cold War both sides made the decision to not build Cobalt weapons. Only a madman would even suggest such a device or support its creation.

Perhaps that why this was leaked? People with enough sense to know that if this is happening, the world needs to know and know before its built.

Take a hard look at what a Cobalt weapon is before lauding Putin if he is doing this.
