I think the USA is more at risk of collapsing first.

Due to how well sweden has kept its debt and deficiet down to reasonable levels , Short term sweden can absorb them.

Long term Sweden actually has a mounting labour crisis due to a stagnant/decreasing population and growing older generation. This immigrants could plug the hole in that labour crisis. Who says they have to sit around on welfare?

Well on this thread it seems to be Americans frothing at the mouth with glee at the thought of sweden going under.

Dont know why they have such a hatred for sweden. Oil? WMDs? O thats rights they have a diffrent culture and political system to the USA and Americans seem to have some pathological need to force the whole world to be like them.....a in debt, corrupt warmongering pit of violence......

You have an interesting view of what US citizens think of Sweden, from just a few trolls. I would hope the world would not follow anything even remotely close to what the USA has established, just as I would hope the other countries wouldn't follow the UK's MO. The world is a unique place, because of different cultures, and I hope it stays that way.

Personally I wouldn't want to see any country go under, or even close to it.

Some people are merely pointing out that the refugees maybe taking advantage of the social system there, and that perhaps it may collapse due to the strain of to many people flooding in.

I'm sure Sweden will handle the problem and it will not collapse, but in the mean time it will definitely tax their social system to it's limits.

I wouldn't care about my image at that point. In order to save a small and ancient European population from its traditions and culture becoming unrecognizably tainted, if I were in charge I'd order a secure border policy for 25 years and reassess in 25 years only to open borders again if unemployment, poverty line, standard of living, and all other applicable measurements were in good standing. Meanwhile, to satisfy the EU you allow applications for immigration ONLY from EU citizens who have official documentation showing parents and grandparents are natural born Europeans. Intolerance? Not unless you think it wrong to keep Europe a massive quilt of countless unique patches in language, looks, gastronomy, architecture, and history which is what makes Europe so fascinating and appealing to tourists and the rest of the world alike. I mean, I thought even dumping national currencies to move to the euro already robbed the countries of one of the things that made each one so unique and interesting and that's just money. But the day you have to search out a Swedish speaker or a Caucasian in Sweden is the day my money woe becomes obsolete. This is NOT an issue to be tolerant or liberal about this is saving a 3000 year old culture from being overrun by a group known for not preserving history but destroying it if found the least bit offensive. What is there, one giant Bhuda left out of a hundred once carved into Pakistani mountains? And it's playing with fire since the liberal behavior Sweden puts out there is the one thing that could ironically open the doors for a government in 75 years that is so conservative that the liberal and tolerant thoughts in most Swedes heads will cost them their heads.

I am only referring to the few of certain extreme political leaning who are so insecure with themselves they jump for joy at another countrys collapse (or in this case made up collapse ) so validate the small world they live in.

Thing is Sweden has had one of the longest running and stable governments. Maybe not as long as Britain but certainly longer than most the world. So sweden must be doing something right.

Im prety sure sweden will survive any problems thrown at it and come out stronger

Personally i LIKE swedens people. Their government(like all governments) Suck. Swedens made the way they do business work in the past but as has been shown systems sometimes need to change at times or adapt to stay viable. As to the in debt warmongering comment ALl nations have been that at on e time or another my dear Crazyewok.

Funny thing is most debt is backed up by our own currency so it snot as bad as it seems.(still bad though) But all nations normally run in the red(to justify their governments jobs)

Hey, Swedes are going to be a minority in their own country and their culture all but erased, but at least they had diversity right?

And what if they don't? What if this little experiment by Progressives fails? No big deal? It's just one little culture that will cease to exist right?

You would think that. It seems simple on the surface. But are the two cultures compatible and are the Syrians you are bringing in going to be able to work in the jobs you have available?

It's not like Sweden is exactly a low-skilled labor paradise. Or is it?

Not to mention, are a bunch of low-skilled laborers going to be able to supply the kind of tax base that will support your welfare state without needing support themselves?

So they have less abled bodied workers due to low birth rate. If the refugees are unable to bring skills required to make enough/ pay enough taxes to offset Sweden's losses due to whatever reason, plus help cover the cost of new people without skills that use social services. It may not go under, but everyone has to admit that at best Sweden could be looking at a bad financial situation.

Not too mention it goes without say taking on more refugees cost more on many levels. Bilingual schools and so on. Don't think people are celebrating Sweden going under, does seem more like I told you so. But maybe it is celebrating them going under.

In a wealthy country you can as Norway did develop a system of high minimum wages, high tariffs to prevent competition, and government hand-outs. People will come in illegally and take jobs in your neighborhood. You can have a system with open borders, no miniminum wage, no tariffs with open borders for free travel, and no government hand-outs. With no minimum wage and government hand-outs, immigrants will just take your job from the next country over so you don't have to worry about sudden demographic shifts that lead to unstable governments.

Cultural diversity is a good thing, but mixing two cultures together simply blends them into one larger culture, which is ultimately less diversity. And, I think that is a bad thing. From a financial perspective, its more efficient to have everyone speak one language and have one purchasing pattern. But, it also makes for a less interesting world IMO. But, closed borders, government hand-outs, and a high minimum wage are actually bad things in that regard.
