U.S. Weaponry Is Turning Syria Into Proxy War With Russia
BEIRUT, Lebanon — Insurgent commanders say that since Russia began air attacks in support of the Syrian government, they are receiving for the first time bountiful supplies of powerful American-made antitank missiles.
With the enhanced insurgent firepower and with Russia steadily raising the number of airstrikes against the government’s opponents, the Syrian conflict is edging closer to an all-out proxy war between the United States and Russia.
The increased levels of support have raised morale on both sides of the conflict, broadening war aims and hardening political positions, making a diplomatic settlement all the more unlikely.

You got any stats to back that claim, because the last we know, Assad was voted in by a majority in a legitimate election.

The US and Russia are to hold new talks on air safety in Syria after it emerged combat aircraft from both nations came within miles of each other on Saturday.
It will be the third round of talks as the two countries seek to find ways of avoiding an accidental conflict.
US Secretary of Defence Ash Carter said he expected a deal soon. Russia said it had "updated proposals" to be discussed during a video conference.
Despite the talks, the US said Russia's actions in Syria were "wrongheaded".
Russia began its campaign of air strikes in Syria on 30 September, saying it was targeting Islamic State (IS) militants and other jihadist groups after a request to help militarily from Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Western countries and Syrian activists say Russian planes have been hitting non-militant targets - a claim Moscow denies.
Why aren't 350 million Americans and another 6 billion world citizens demanding Obama and the rest of the bunch be impeached and tried in international courts for war crimes and crimes against humanity?

Yes the election of 2014 The only election to happen since Assads family came to power by coup. An election In the middle of a civil war. Which the opposition boycotted as illegitimate. Where no voting was held in rebel or Kurdish areas, in other words over half the country. An election that was called illegitimate by the US, EU and GCC and criticized by the UN. An election that had no independent monitors. An election where Assad hand picked a group of countries to certify as legit. An election where 30 people signed up to against Assad and only two were found eligible run. Both not surprisingly pro Assad. Considering well over half the country was not a part of the election a 73% turn out is pretty amazing. How does that happen when over half the population was not even living in area that was a part of it. At best you could hope for 40% turn out if everybody in Assad controlled areas voted. Yeah, that sure was North Korea level of legitimate election.
You do not need stats anyway, all you have to do is look at Syria where the population was virtually unarmed and Assad had a 350,000 man army with tanks, artillery, gun ships and an air force. In 2011 Assad ordered the attacks on the unarmed protesters. A year later the rebels were in a full scale advance and Assads forces defecting. Assads forces today are 125,000 after non stop conscription of which men keep refusing to go even in areas loyal to Assad despite mass arrests for doing so. Despite help from Iran and Hezbollah Assad has was near collapse and only the Russians are buying him some time. When you have a huge army and popular support any rebellion would be crushed over night. If you have a huge army and the population is against you, then you are doomed. Just like Assad.
