Yesterday I was looking at my mood: "lachrymose"...

& planned a crying thread...

But I didn't have a beautiful song to go with it.

Thanks Lady, wonderful thread.

Peace On Earth, everyone!

When I stopped for a traffic light, I covered my face so no one would see.

Oh, Don't feel bad darlin, I cover my face at the
light whether I'm cry'n or not. Sometimes I forget
and everyone else starts cry'n.

Hope you feel better!

Strangely enough wrote a thread almost exactly 2 years ago about this song and the Billy Jack movie.

That movie stirred some very strong emotions in me at the time and the song itself pops into my head at the weirdest times. I am always moved to tears when I watch that movie or hear the song to this day.

It was and is such a strong emotional pull.

One Tin Soldier

Back in the 70’s, during the Vietnam war, there were many who had the audacity to suggest we not be involved and along with that was a desire on the part of many to integrate society into the ways of peace and love without regard for race, color, creed…they still found a way to ignore people back then and continued to be involved in Vietnam, today it is considered by most involved to have been a war we had no business being involved in, but would things be different in that part of the world if we had not?

One Tin Soldier

Listen, children, to a story…That was written long ago…'Bout a kingdom on a mountain…
And the valley folk below…On the mountain was a treasure…Buried deep beneath a stone…
And the valley people swore…They'd have it for their very own…

Go ahead and hate your neighbor
Go ahead and cheat a friend
Do it in the name of Heaven
You can justify it in the end
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgment day
On the bloody morning after who...
One tin soldier rides away

So, the people of the valley…Sent a message up the hill…Asking for the buried treasure…
Tons of gold for which they'd kill…Came an answer from the kingdom…
"With our brothers, we will share…All the secrets of our mountain…All the riches buried there"

Now, the valley cried with anger…"Mount your horses, draw your sword!"…
And they killed the mountain people…So, they won their just reward…Now, they stood beside the treasure
On the mountain dark and red…Turn the stone and looks beneath it..."Peace on Earth" was all it said…

Go ahead and hate your neighbor
Go ahead and cheat a friend
Do it in the name of Heaven
You can justify it in the end
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgment day
On the bloody morning after who...
One tin soldier rides away

Go ahead and hate your neighbor
Go ahead and cheat a friend
Do it in the name of Heaven
You can justify it in the end
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgment day
On the bloody morning after who...
One tin soldier rides away

Great songs, two of my favs when it comes to feeling the soul of the artist. Here's one that always gets me. I think it's poignant for so many people who simply settle with their lives, instead of finding that happiness we so desperately need in our lives. Instead a lot of us are left with emptiness.

Try this one.

It was inspired by a real event involving two orphaned brothers.

I'm with you on that.

One Tin Soldier is a song that chokes me up every time I hear it, going all the way back to my childhood when I first heard it on the radio.

The storyline strikes a nerve with most people who listen to it... I think the reason is because it draws out feelings of both anger and sadness at the reality of the disgusting war-mongering world we live in.

And deep down inside, we all know that ugliness will never end... no doubt, the insanity will continue until we finally wipe ourselves off the map.

Here's a couple of other songs that reflect the ugliness of world (grab the kleenex box first):

It's good for the soul and mind to let it all out and cry thats why we do it
.
This song gets me everytime. (yes I know Rolf Harris but the song).

Oh and not heard that song and it is moving.

This song (2 little boys) came out when I was a kid, and according to my mum I used to just burst into tears everytime it came on the radio - I'd have been 3 or 4 at the time.

Must have touched a nerve somehow.
