Love thy neighbor is just unthinkable. Turn the other cheek, that one really is just insane. I tell you religious teachings will just make the world a bad place.

Don't kill and cheat, don't act like a hypocrite, don't lie. Be light hearted, love your God. Dont worship idols or fake gods. All lies! I don't want my children to know this...right?

For thousands of years humans have been practicing some form of religion with some moral code. We have made it this far because religion exists. Sure, you will reply that God killed children and that crazy people use religion for crazy things.

Remember religion is not evil, evil men are evil. Religion teaches you how to not fall prey to these fake prophets and idol worshippers.

God clearly forbids killing, lying, cheating, lusting, usery, worshipping fake prophets or idols, greed, destroying nature and hate. I don't know about you but i agree with all of that.

What a novel thread topic. I certainly haven't seen this one before.

Loving others as yourself is not a teaching owned by religion. Loving others is a philosophy and action, not a religion.

For thousands of years humans have been practicing some form of religion with some moral code. We have made it this far because religion exists.

We made it this far because a moral code exists, and religion is an attempt to teach the moral code. Even animals have a moral code (at least the social ones do). Their moral code is best on empathy which is what's best for a social species living in groups (or in the case of humans, cities) to survive; but those social species do not have a religion (except humans), just the basic moral code to survive.

Humans are bad people by nature, for all its flaws, religion regularly saves lost souls. It might not make the world perfect, but there are countless examples of how it has made individual lives and our society as a whole better then if it had never existed.

Sure, religion has inspired some good things, but has also inspired bad things on very large scales (crusades, inquisitions, even 'manifest destiny'), so for all of your individuals who have used religion to better themselves, there are millions in history who have also use religion as a muse to create death and destruction...and in the present, as well.

Your last claim about religion making society better as a whole can be easily--EASILY--debated, and has been...many times...successfully. But it takes an objective mind to be able to do so, so I'm sure that such casually ignorant and naturally bad people who don't flock to religion probably have zero credibility in your eyes.

To each their own, but at least you need to have the flaw in your argument pointed out.

My point was that this moral code does exist outside of religious teachings, but that the most popular religions today all teach that same moral code. And that same moral code did serve man well in the past thousands of years, did it not?

You will always have those who use a good thing for evil Look at radioactivity, electricity, computers, a rope, a pen, anything can be used for good or evil it depends on the human using it.

Propaganda is just another label, of course many churches spew propaganda, and some more than others.

The fact of the matter is that religion was created by men, and all religions are influenced by past ones. The past is a foundation which cannot be destroyed, it can be covered up or forgotten, but not erased.

Lets look at the "old" testament. Its relatively new in human history. Not many traces of it can be found before 500BC. If we examine the events of the time period that it came about, there was plenty going on in China. Buddhism, and Taoism was just becoming established, and both were a definite influence of the early Jews.

How can that be? Well if you haven't noticed, the bible has plenty of flaws. Much of this has been denied, or explained away as accidental, but not thought of intentional, which it was. Taoism teaches that the ying and yang exist in harmony. Essentially you are supposed to love your enemy, not kill them. Its a continual belief all through Confucianism and Buddhism also. Both sides reach an understanding of the other. By contrast, Judaism and all associated branches teach Good and Evil. These are two adjectives that don't exist in Chinese philosophy. There is no good and evil in ying and yang. The Old Testament was an early Chinese experiment in which ying and yang are poisoned by good and evil. There is no "tree of knowledge" . More accurately its the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil.

In Genesis 3 we see the snake deceiving the woman, and she is likewise being cursed by God. This is the first example of good and evil at work. One party is demonized and the other is holy. It sends both sides to the extremes. The Hebrews were led out of Egypt by SOMEONE, and declared the chosen people of God. Later Egypt is taken over by the Greeks, and the New Testament appears in Greek, which damns God's chosen people for not accepting Jesus as the son of God. It could be theorized that the Greeks were upset at the Jews, due to the political propaganda in the Old Testament which made Egypt look bad, and Christianity came about to reverse that, but what really happened is that the Chinese who earlier supported the Jews, decided to support the other side. In the ancient world there were only two major empires, Egypt and China. Keeping the opposition divided against itself was to their benefit. Later they influenced the Moslems to keep Christianity in check.

Studying Hebrew, many have noticed that the language is similar to Chinese. Vowel sounds and all. The letters are shadows of Chinese characters. Religion is only ying and yang at work. The early Chinese were 1000 years more advanced
that the rest of the planet, so they developed a defective religion for them to follow, and to die from after eating from the tree of good and evil. Wait until the Moslems bomb Israel and the US jumps in to stop it. He who laughs last, laughs longest.

The story of the flood is independently described in Chinese history as well, this isn't any accident. Of course there was no flood, but another cataclysm which was described as a flood. Man lived on another planet in the solar system, and then destroyed himself. A few survivors came here and started again from scratch. The dragon in Chinese mythology was actually the word for a flying saucer. In fact China's first emperor described himself as coming from another planet. The western world is set on a course to destroy itself from eating from the fruit of good and evil, and from repeating past mistakes from another planet. Ever look at that asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter and wonder why all of those rocks are mysteriously in orbit all together like that? Its no accident. That's where man came from. Now the dominos are stacked in such a way that a chain reaction starting with the bombing of Israel will result in everyone being destroyed, except of course China. At least that's what they believe. Iran bombs Israel, USA bombs the middle east, and Russia bombs the USA. After the dust settles China steps in and takes care of Russia.
