In the meantime the US government border patrol puts road blocks a 100 miles inland on interstate highways and force everyone to answer questions under duress.

Of course.

Has nothing to do with the powerful AZ Sheriff Association.

And? Oh wait, you mean the Border Patrol is doing their job? And the HWY Patrol. They have check points too.

I go through 3 of them every time I drive from AZ to CA.

He's accused of racial profiling. I don't see that as being much of a stretch.

If it weren't for political correctness, racial profiling would be seen as intelligent police work.*

* That statement is made knowing that there's a difference between racial profiling and racial harassment.

It is well known the Sheriff has investigated the birth certificate fiasco and claims it is a fake. He won't let it go. But again, if the locals who elect him and pay him are okay with that no one else should care, especially if he is wrong. But as they say, even a blind squirrel stumbles on an acorn once in awhile. The fact the Feds are getting involved indicates to me he is getting too close for their comfort.

How many locals do you think actually vote?

Its typically businessmen who elect local officials. Not the dude who works at the local convenience store.

The DOJ have been investigating Arpaio since before Obama was elected and before the whole Cold Case Posse. And just because Arpaio is an elected official that doesn't give him the ability to use tax payer money on a case that isn't in his jurisdiction or even an actual case anywhere. How else do you think that deputy got to Hawaii to help in the CCP's investigation? Of course it would hardly be the first time Arpaio misused funds.

I see, so if you hold an election and the outcome is not what liberals think it should be then you can ignore the will of the people because it is well known most people don't vote? Are you from Nazi Germany? Perhaps we should just stop holding elections and let a politburo appoint our leaders for the good of the motherland of course. The people are too stupid and uninformed to make these important decisions anyway. They should be assigned work classes, assigned housing that fit their contribution to society, limited in their ability to produce offspring, and once their contributions fall below their cost to society then they should be, well....reassigned. Of course the great Politburo has the knowledge and intellect to decide who can contribute and if you are one of the lucky ones because of the color of your skin or your political connections then life could be pretty sweet. Otherwise, practically speaking, if you take more than you contribute, well, it just makes sense that you are not what the Motherland needs. Those who disagree are just not altruistic enough to fit into our progressive society. If you are not progressive, you must be regressive and I don't have to tell you how....uh....undesirable and impractical that is.

Again, that is Maricopa County's problem. If they want to spend their tax payer money on this sort of thing....who are you to deny them that?

I think he is getting too close to the truth for comfort and therefore he has elicited this sort of response from the Feds. It is a local government problem, not a Federal government problem.

Misappropriation of tax funds isn't a local problem. It's a federal crime. Plus he's been under investigation LONG before Obama got into office. This whole case has nothing to do with Obama in fact. Joe is just the asshole who won't let the birther thing go and this issue is just another notch on his long and shady belt.

You lost credabilty on two things.

1) referering to anyone that disagrees with you as a liberal. That just makes you seem like a fox new watching partasian hick.

2) bringing nazi and USSR analogys in a cluster# of hyperbole.

Now the biggest NAZI here is joe and its not even on the immigration issue, he has a long history of denying due proces, police brutality, ignoring serous crimes like child rape and handing out political favours.

That isnt rumour either bust fact which I pointed out on page 2 of this thread.
The supreme court has ruled against him a number of times as acting against the constitution.

Now guess what? The constitution is the higest law in your country (why the hell is a Brit telling you this?!).
If a politician or sherrif is acting against it they need to be removed! The USA is a constitutional republic! Not a direct democracy Its does not matter if 99% of Arizona vote to shred the constitution, unless they leave the union they HAVE to abide by it. Now joe has been ruled by the supreme court in a number of times in acting contary to the US constitution, either he falls in line, makes Arizona succede and form a seperate country or is removed from office.

Arpaio got a lot of votes, but the 2012 election was close.

And then the recall apparently failed in 2013.

The Sheriff

It doesn't matter how much of the vote he gets. He's good with the tough on crime rhetoric and takes actions to back it up. We can argue the effectiveness of that method but it resonates with voters which is why he wins. The problem is that the actions he's taking are blatantly illegal and his office needs to be following the law. He makes no attempts to even follow it even when his current practices are deemed unconstitutional, he just ignores the ruling and continues.

They are. They've been building their case for a long time because they want it to be iron clad. He's popular in his district and they can only bring much of this stuff to court against him once. They need to make sure they don't blow it. The fact that the feds are even stepping in to try and remove someone that's very popular in their district and has a history of winning elections says a lot.

Arpaio is a grade A asshole that really needs to be removed from office. At least, according to my perceptions and the opinions of the family I have living in his county

Was he elected by the people of AZ?

Actually he has never even seen the Birth Certificate, and no one doing a real investigation would declare something a fake that they have never examined....

He won't let it go.

Well, he is making too much money from the gullible to let it go!

indicates to me he is getting too close for their comfort.

So exactly what has his investigation found? Apart from making announcements, he has actually investigated nothing!
