Doesn't really matter though... the fact is eventually we will find life outside of earth...

That will confirm intelligent life does exist outside of this world... because IF it managed to evolve here, it will also be elsewhere when the same conditions are found...

You know what really gets me about Sagan's calculation?

That the earth is like 1 in a million or billion or something.

Well it is safe to assume that since life has arisen on earth in this particular fashion, then why can't it have done the same on another earth like "Goldie-Lox" planet?

I mean it would totally freak me out probably more hardcore than the metallic alien from Aliens if we find life out there and it very much resembles us!

That will be something if we end up coming across other, as we see ourselves, "humans"

we are one successful way in which the universe gives rise to life...

and when there is one successful way it is the same as the planet theory.

there must be millions of human planets out there if we're not so rare?

we ourselves are evidence of life in the universe...

but I dunno about metallic aliens, I don't want to meet those aliens.

I know the man quite well... no introductions needed

You couldn't teach me anything about him if you wanted to anyways...

but thanks for the offer

Contact is really good!

We need a little of that rationality around here...

I'm gonna have to disagree with your assertion that atheism is communism. I believe you're confusing communism with Marxism.

Atheism isn't Marxism either...

Aliens huh?

By Carl Sagan’s own standards of evidence, a belief in extraterrestrial life is equivalent to a belief in a throne-sitting, “outsize male” God with a long white beard. Both are “belief without evidence.” Both are “superstition.”

check out the big brain on Lucid...

it's just the word "Christian"

I go in to instant defense mode for them and emotions about great grand parents and grand parents start flying in the noggin.

"Theist" is a better word... specially if you are coming from the stance of an atheist.

I'll follow you and frisk you in every thread... make sure no funny stuff comes out the pockets of the militant atheist.

I am highly suspicious and untrusting of atheists, I hope you can understand?

You are doing one hell of a hack job by cherry picking Sagans words.

Well if this was directed at me... I assure you, I don't "pick on" Jesus...

Just those who claim to follow him but prove otherwise...

Marxism is Darwinism...

Atheism's only fundamental doctrine and writ.

"the watchers" are already rejected as "alien" in Christianity... which is why the book of Enoch wasn't canonised they consider them "angels" or at least Fallen angels

I have the 5 books of Torah, Jubilees, Jasher, Enoch, 14 books of the Prophets, 12 books of the Twelve, 5 books of the writings, 9 books of the scrolls, 12 books of the Second Temple, and twenty seven books of the New Testament of Christianity. All of these are in one Christian Book (Bible). In Christian Eth Cepher they are all taught as one family of literature. As I understand it the early Christians accepted 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Enoch and taught them in their liturgy. I am not into any denominational religion so maybe I am not understanding this.

Early Christianity accepted a lot of things they don't these days... including reincarnation actually...

Those books that fall outside of the bible are considered heresy now... Not even included in the apocryphal canon...

Lot's of stuff... I just finished watching Christianity's first 1000 Years last night, it was pretty decent.

The music was my thing though! Antioch/Pagan near east influenced, cool! but by the time women we're not presiding over each early church meeting no more that changed too.

blame the Romans! ...for everything

That's not a Carl Sagan quote...

That's someone else's inference based on Carl Sagan saying religious belief is "belief without evidence".

We have evidence pointing at the likelihood of alien life in the Universe. More now than when he was alive.

No I am not going to explain that to you. Stop mentioning me. I have no interest in a dialogue with you.

It is a simple logical rational deduction...

It is how our human minds do our scientific thing.

Can you explain the difference in believing in the Little Green Men that you do and the Christians believing in some unseen human God?

...yes I am certain you have no interest in dialogue with me

Good we agree on the distinction then.

As for Marxism being 'atheist communism'. You should read this page. I am about half way through and I am finding it quite intriguing. Link

I fear we are quite off topic.... but then again another member has been the main culprit there.

haven't you heard? ...it's a battle of words

but not really, they're either linguistically challenged or come with a hint of illiteracy?

We live in a nation of immigrants Lucid, and I don't mean to give you a crash course in being a United States Citizen.

But we are to be sensible to others plights, beliefs and customs.

I am assuming you are in California? I tell you something Lucid...

You head to Cleveland or Pittsburgh or Cincinnati or any place in the country where there is a majority Polish,Soviet,Eastern European community or where they have settled.

Then you stand out on the street corner and try your promotion of Atheism and defile Christians at the same time.

You are going to meet people who are unlike me even!

This isn't England! there are survivors and their decedents here.

It's never too late to apologize...
