How will then ever monitor those of us that spend countless hours a day reading a good book.

Books will have a chip embedded in the cover...

So, if I allow them to put a chip on my treadmill, will they send me a monthly rebate cheque for being a model citizen? What's in it for me? I want a cut of the loot I will be saving the government.

I am, as I am watching the thread

on my recumbant exercise bike (good for bad backs)

It has a wireless monitor in it that is always on when the bike is plugged in

I called the manufacturer shortly after I got the bike (over a year ago) and there is no way to turn it off without disabling the entire computer
so they say

It was messing with my computer wireless

So I found a work around,
I only bike on one speed and don't vary

I discovered that if I quickly unplugged the bike while it was on my favorite speed,
that it would retain that speed.
(the speed is controlled by an internal device which moves beside the wheel
to adjust the speed)

So now, my exercise bike is unplugged on my favorite speed.

The feds will probably hate that one!

I was shocked to learn that modern exercise equipment is always transmitting wirelessly
when plugged in! However, I should not have been surprised, come to think of it.

We shall overcome! Ha ha.

Maybe they'll play a mandatory 15 minute exercise "actimercial" every 2 hours or so. If you don't participate your TV will shut off automatically for 45 minutes. Visions of '1984' are dancing through my head at this very moment.

This is where black market holographic technology will come in handy.

I just had an idea for school fund raisers!

Plant based foods that contain dairy and eggs

They can advertise and require all the items be plant based, and
therefore healthy under the plant based rule

As I said before

Flour: plant based, wheat
Sugar: plant based, beats, corn, cane
Chocolate: plant based, cocoa beans
Vanilla: plant based, vanilla bean
Oil: plant based, corn, canola, vegatable and/or Dairy, butter
Yeast: plant based, grows on plants and is found with plants
Milk and eggs are already approved Michelle Obama healthy items for schools to serve
As long as they used "all natural", no additive ingredients, easy to do with flour and sugar and milk and eggs
they could make a lot of items; other all natural ingredients that are not man made chemicals: salt/baking powder/baking soda

There you have it!
The foundation for all natural
plant based (more than 90% plant material)
bake sales.

Sorry to veer off headline topic, but taxing dessert was in the OP.

Don't call it dessert, call it plant based all natural food.

This Grandma is such a right wing subversive!

We shall overcome!

Bwa ha ha ha

Oh yes, I have a solution to the camera and microphone issue

painter's tape over the camera and
a cotton ball held in place with painters tape over the microphone,
easy to remove and cheap to replace

cost: about $5 for many many years of peace of mind

value: priceless

We shall overcome!

Rest easy couch potatoes, Capitalism will never let this happen. Too much money to be made from consumer goods being hocked in commercials and from pharmaceutical companies treating the health problems associated with a sedentary lifestyle.

It will probably happen.

The authoritarians are winning, and the majority would defend the government's actions because they are looking after our well being. Humans have become too stupid and lazy to be free.

I mean, just think of the burden on society that poor health causes. It is beyond evident that making poor health choices is criminal.

I know

shouldn't Obama be in jail for his closet smoking?

how about all those pics of him eating ribs and hamburgers/cheeseburgers and fries?

and what about those pics of over the top cakes at the white house?

Criminal, criminal, criminal

and the countless hours watching sports on TV that are quite public knowledge?
Of course, I must admit he balances those off with spending most of his time and energy on the golf course when not watching sports.

They are already trying to ban certain books so it won't be a ban on reading but rather what you are allowed to read.

Peace

Marie Antoinette?
Let them eat cake?

Okay being serious now.

This is from the same government who handed out free digital receivers so we all would never miss a moment of TV. Now they say we watch to much?!?! Your government at work folks. They create the problem then they say we need more regulation to protect us from ourselves.

Some people could exercise a little more self control but it's not for the government to say how we live our lives. If I want to watch 23 hours of TV a day and eat tubs of lard its my prerogative. I'm not hurting anyone but myself.

I'm interested.

Which books are the libs/progressives/socialists trying to ban?

I wouldn't be so sure Kosmic, I NEVER thought the US Gov. would get involved with school lunches which were already regulated and supposedly healthy. I NEVER thought that almost all? electronics would be used as surveillance of some sort and possibly used oppressively or as a prosecutorial avenue against us. I also NEVER thought I would be subject to a penalized health insurance program designed to make the insurance companies even wealthier and fining me for non-participation.

Maybe I am stupid or sumfink ... but is it just obese people watch TV or is it just an excuse to monitor everyone
All for our good of course ...

Going to buy a TV "Hey you look a little pudgy ... May I recommend this model ... It will have you slim as lat and dancing round the room like a nimble fairy in no time"

If people want to watch TV all day who's business is it and if so maybe we should monitor "Fat Cats" activities

I was thinking that some attempt at declaring radio transmissions as carcinogenic might be a way for totalitarians to introduce an EMF tax. I can see some of the framework for such a leap emerging all over the place.

Control of the fiber backbone and all radio/microwave/etc... the possibilities are troubling to say the least.

It is the multiple vectors of staggered attacks that indicate some sort of concerted effort to me if this is to be attributed to some conspiracy rather than simple collective insanity, which may very well be all this is.

Great idea,

all elected officials, CEO's of companies with more than 2000 employees, all college professors in ivy league schools who are such an influence on the people who enter government and big business;
must have all their cameras on their TV's, computers, phones open to the public for streaming 24/7

what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Let's all push for this legislation and maybe they will back off,
fat chance.

"the fat and un healty people, shouldent they have to pay extra for the strain on the healthcare."

And this is why I opposed universal (state-run) healthcare.

Because it is not the sole responsibility of the individual any longer.

It is a collective responsibility of the state.

A stranger, in another state, can have an impact on how I conduct myself.

You are correct in that it is a strain on the collective healthcare now that we are all in the same government plan.

I cannot argue that point at all. I'm just sad at the freedoms lost because people refused the responsibility themselves.

Good point.

There does seem to be a sort of concerted effort

done piecemeal

on multiple vectors

They all point to the desire of the government
to control the minutiae of the lives of the
people they govern.
Why? They will say for the good of the people/
when the truth is, it is for the good of the people in power, to remain in power.

Libs/progressives/socialists are all falling into the trap and
actually clammoring for more and more governmental control
of the minutia of the lives of everyone,
"for their own good" of course,
and for the "good" good of society of course -
they are being used.

Just as they are being used into controlling thought
through controlling speech and making not wanting to do a job out of religious conviction a crime,
they support criminalizing those whose thoughts they deem "antisocial".

Like the 70 year old widow florist who is losing her life savings, and
florist store because she didn't want to make flowers for a gay wedding,
and she employs gay people,
but she was deemed a threat to society by the thought police for not wanting to provide flowers to a gay wedding.
This is a great example of government gone too far, making thought and religious conviction a crime and forcing people do a job that is against their personal values, which harm no one.
Especially when there are plenty of alternatives for people to get the same job done.

www.frontpagemag.com...

This is a great example of what will happen to ALL of us.
Because social mores are constantly changing.
And when the wind of social morals change, people who simply disagree, will be prosecuted and destroyed by
our wonderful government led by liberals/progressives/and socialists.

Where have you been? We all knew you were coming!

Someone who thinks the government has a right to control the minutiae of everyone's lives,
for "their own good" and for the "good of society"

Hope you are as eager for the control when they come after something you are "guilty" of according to whatever the current social mores of the wind are at the time.
