Rumi the Sufi Part 1 - The Theology of a Mystic - The Myth of You

Your First Eyes - Rumi

A lover has four streams inside,
of water, wine, honey, and milk.

By a lover, Rumi is speaking of his beloved, or the Spirit of God. Parallel to this, Rumi is speaking of his own higher nature above, or Shams. To Rumi, there is a mythical persona called Shames who represents his teacher of light. Often, Rumi speaks of Shams as the Sun and illumination. From my own studies, I realize who he is speaking of in parallel. For Rumi, something special happened. As the story goes, the other half of Rumi's own soul was present on Earth for a time with Rumi as a teacher. After the death of Shams, Rumi gave away the secret to the puzzle of who this person was. In one quote, he states this: "You live where Shams lives because your heart-donkey was strong enough to take you there. The slave of the heart is the dweller on the threshold that passes from this life to the next apart from fear of the adversary.

As you will see, love of the beloved allows the dweller below to pass the one on the threshold safely. Having read enough of Rumi, I see this from most of his writing. He firmly believed that we have a higher nature above that gleans the crop of our walk below. Below, we are unaware of our being above. We are entangled. The Bible gives hint to this in many places. See this thread: Child of God or Son of God - Matthew 18 Entanglement.

Find those in yourself and pay no attention what so-and-so says about such-and-such.

Finding the water, wine, honey and milk is related to each life producing them.

For the water, we look to the Mother (Ruach Elohim from Genesis 1). She is the Mater (Latin), or Mother / Matrix of reality. Water is related entirely to the Strong Nuclear Force of the Father (Elohim). The Father is the glue holding the letters of information bound in the womb of the Mother. From this, we have the production of the Kosmos. As Genesis outlines, Elohim said, "Let us make man in our own image." The image of God is both male and female. We see this mirrored in the Chirality of the human form. We also see this in the chiral nature of man and woman, Sun and Moon and so on the mirror continues. Above, we are the Angel. Below, we are the bride. The Angel above works to build the new home as the bride below awaits union.

For wine, the grape must be squeezed. When the wine ferments, it is good for refreshment. Wine is then the celebratory drink at the wedding.

For Honey, the bee collects pollen to allow other life to flourish and reproduce. Honey is the byproduct of the work. From this, the hive is fed and the queen can produce more children.

For the milk, we look to the mother again. Milk is food ( knowledge) that is for babes. We are reading this knowledge today as babes de-Scribe-ing symbolism. The real meat is in the symbols. We are fed by these morsels of knowledge.

As Rumi says, this knowledge is inside us awaiting the reflecting point of the symbol. Once it is awakened, the true food is released. Seed is gathered in the storehouse. See Part 1 for more... Don't listen to me on this. Find it in the heart when it enters the basket (Homer / Cor / Hart / Young Stag).

The rose does not care if someone calls it a thorn, or a jasmine.

The Rose here is the beloved. Naming and character do not hurt love. Love know its own and can only give. Love keeps no records of wrongs and cannot be sufficiently named to define its character and attributes.

Ordinary eyes categorize human beings. That one is a Zoroastrian. This one Muslim.

No matter the name we use, we are all images of the true God (both male and female). Our groom will be rejoined to the bride at the end. We are all the same image.

Walk instead with the other vision given you, your first eyes. Do not squint, and do not stare blankly like a vulture.

The first eyes are those of a child. What does a child do? They receive and cannot give, except by their own innocent nature. What can a child give naturally? Love and warmth to a Mother. Squinting is seeking, hoping to receive. Staring blankly is a thoughtless desire to take the next meal you can find. A vulture can only scavenge for things that are dead. A child seeks the milk of the mother.

Those who love fire fall in the fire. A fly slips from the edge into the whey.

Dig a pit for someone (create a trial) and fall in the pit yourself. Here, Rumi reminds us that we are what we love. If we are a fly, we slip off the edge to our death. If we are a tree, we provide habitat for an entire forest. Giving is the key with Rumi in all cases. Love requires this to overcome the dweller between. Fear comes from fearing the adversary.

If you are in love with the infinite, why grieve over the ground washing away in the rain?

Your body is the clay (earth) and the rain is baptism. You will wash away. Instead, know yourself. You are infinite.

Bow to the essence in a human being. A desert drinks war-blood, but if it knew this secret, springs would rise, rose gardens.

What is the essence in each of us? The Genesis 1 Father and Mother. Aleph Bet is the Father (Strong House). The Mother is Aleph Mem (Strong Water). You are the Son (Bet Nun, or House of Seed). See this thread. Hidden in the Letters of Hebrew

A desert is empty because of war. Love allows the desert to bloom once water is found. What is the essence of the human? The MOTHER! She is our consciousness and living water. We all have this living water to drink from when we find the beloved.

Do not be content with judging people good and bad.
Grow out of that. The great blessing is
that Shams has poured a strength into the ground
that lets us wait and trust the waiting.

Again, Shams is Runi's higher nature. Shams is the one we wait for, or the groom to return for the Bride.

Judge not lest ye be judged. This is a universal lesson that Rumi knew. How? Clearly from his writing, he knew the Son of God and the identity of the Mother and Father. He also knew the accuser and adversary. For each of us, the key is to overcome the adversary and leave no room for accusation. By this, we defeat them both.

Genesis 1 is the source. You are from Adam. Adam is the image of the Father and Mother.

Rumi could clearly see beyond duality.

Where Jesus said that "he was the person in need" explaining non duality in his own way, Rumi used his own words to convey the same meaning from my point of view.

Rumi Say I am you

Namaste. (I bow to the divine in you)

Jesus is Adam.

Luke 3

38 son of Enos, son of Seth,
son of Adam,
son of God.

As the first, he is also the last. Moses had to stay on the wilderness side of the Jordan because of his sin. He ushered in the rest to the promised land. As Christ, he was again united with the feminine side of his nature. Yahweh had divided that with the shedding of blood from the foundation. Yahweh then had the accuser (Snake / Satan) ask the question to the weaker side of Adam. He was cunning and Adam / Eve were both naked (lacking knowledge). They are clothed in a white robe (from the sheep wool) in Revelation 6 after being killed by the Beasts below. This is the pattern for the Saints. To join back with the groom, we must follow the path of Christ. There is a twist. Adam suffered in Yahweh's place, not just man's place on the cross. Yahweh was the one that should have been there.

Genesis 9

6 Whoever sheds human blood,
by humans his blood will be shed,
because in his image, Elohim made humans.

The shedding of Adam's blood, then the further shedding of blood caused by Yahweh is the death of Adam that followed through the centuries. Baptism brings the soul back into the water through rebirth. Our adversary has no payment for his crime. He missed the chance to face the cross himself. If it was Yahweh on the cross, then he repented and paid the cost for man.

In either case, the blood is paid for Adam.

Great post. One thing I disagree with though, the bride is already united with the groom. A living human is testament to this. What is the bride without the groom? Death.

Without the Spirit (groom) there is only flesh, but with the Spirit there is animated flesh (life). What happens at death? The groom (Spirit) is separated from the bride (body).

"Til death do us part." The groom is always united to the bride when there is life present, only at death do they part. They aren't apart always though, they will rejoin when we are "baptized" into our next incarnation.

Great post either way.
