These numbers are based on statistics of those who are in a pool of workers in a particular job. If the pool is 100,000 + the statistics are more inline with a statistically significant number.. Like the Astronauts being at #2 when in actuality there have been about 550 people trained to be either astronauts or cosmonauts, and 30 have died; therefore their #2 ranking.

Another thing we hear all the time is how dangerous a police officers job is (and it can be depending on city and location) well according to this compiled data your landscaper runs across some really bad trees and bushes... maybe more respect is due !
Anyway figured some might find this interesting..

13 of every 100,000 full-time employees in a bar or drinking establishment die each year.
15 of every 100,000 full-time landscapers do (the same number as police officers).
25 of every 100,000 full-time truck drivers die on the job.

finance.yahoo.com...
#5: Pilot
#4: Fisherman
#3: Logger
#2: Astronaut
#1: Underwater Welder

This is why I shouldn't read this site right after waking up... I actually thought this (killer job statistics) was going to be statistics about people who kill for money.

Nice...

Realize how only only 1 of these jobs are on land (logger).... all the rest are either sea, space or upper atmosphere!

Coincidence? I dont think so!

I doubt their job is anywhere near as dangerous as being a 'jaywalking, strong-armed robbery turd', they seem to die pretty regularly. Firearms instructors tend to have pretty strict range rules, but since you want to derail the OP's thread by tossing out statistical outliers...
