I thought that was suppose to be a lifetime position and you only retired when you died,that`s how it use to be. Now we have two popes "retiring" in a relatively short time period, something is odd here.

Some years ago a priest I know went to Vatican with a group of young people and managed to get an audience with Pope J. Paul II who asked him how things were going in Portugal (this was a Portuguese priest) at the time. When he told things were not so well, J. Paul II told him not to feel sad or worried because this (meaning world/life as we know it) wouldn`t last much longer !!!

Pope Francis has a documented track record of being flippant in these impromptu interviews, and frequently says things without apparently thinking about how they will be taken. He's 77, and life expectancy in his home country of Argentina is 76, so he's already pushing things, never mind that he only has one lung and has one of the most stressful jobs in the world. Benedict set the bar by demonstrating that if one's health begins to deteriorate, there's nothing to stop the Pope from abdicating in favour of someone better able to manage things.

So I think it's just a matter of him being realistic, saying that he's not likely to have a 20 year papacy like John Paul II, something my Traditionalist Catholic friends are extremely grateful for -- there is a very vocal minority that thinks we can't be rid of Francis fast enough (I am not one of them, though I sympathize with their position.)

Have any other supporting evidence this event occurred? Serious question.

At some point everybody has to decide who to believe. Lacking first hand experience, we are all consuming news that somebody presents as factual.

I find arnett to be completely sincere and believable. I take him at his word.

I don't think anybody would expect this story be be covered by the corporate media. It would be akin to confessing murder.

The proof shall come as greater numbers of being integrate the reality into the collective conscious. That's what the battles on sites like this are all about.

They would like to prevent people from taking it seriously enough to actually consider the possibility. This is warfare
