well, boys, the hits keep coming. long story short, the usaf have come up with a successful model to manipulate large social media pools like "drone armies". it looks like "they"'ve moved beyond identifying networks to learning how to control them.

here's the meat, but the sources linked in the article are gold and worth checking out.

The research demonstrates that the mathematical principles used to control groups of autonomous robots can be applied to social networks in order to control human behavior. If properly calibrated, the mathematical models developed by Dixon and his fellow researchers could be used to sway the opinion of social networks toward a desired set of behaviors—perhaps in concert with some of the social media “effects” cyber-weaponry developed by the NSA and its British counterpart, GCHQ...

of course, you know, only extremists will be targeted (at least until the software is sold to the private sector).

stay classy, usaf.

Corporations are people. Profit is their blood. Greed is in their DNA.

People have the right to self-defense. Corporations will soon claim that right. See where this is going?

Ugh. But who didn't see this coming? It's the natural evolution of how society is already manipulated — information warfare.

Now that's a huge can of worms!!

But as I always suspected, Social Media is such a useful tool to keep tracks of the malcontents and now apparently manipulation.

I wonder if you could trace back Zukerberg's and other FB founders; could there be a connection to tptb, that stay
hidden behind the curtain of stealth and power?

there's a funny little passage in the article where darpa bags on fb for its recent experiments, calling them "unethical". in case you need a good laugh.

yeah, i hear ya. but the distinctions between corp and gov are already fuzzy. even the u.n. is bitching about intel agencies tapping private companies for our precious metadatas.

Stepping into a fierce debate over digital privacy rights, the U.N. office says it has strong evidence of a growing complicity among private companies in government spying. It says governments around the world are using both the law and covert methods to access private content and metadata.

naturally, being the u.n., no action will come out of it.

Not surprised. Many websites are government run and their employees try and sway people one way or the other. Usually they start out by agreeing, then slowly, you will watch them make a turn and hope the sheep will follow. Just learn how manipulation works and how the US gov thinks.

the manipulation by social media is highly over-rated.....my son who is 26, along with his friends, says he never pays attention anymore to the obvious manipulation being done by social networking sites. they laugh at it, and simply ignore it, because it is so obvious.
