Hey all,

I just came across an RT article pertaining to ancient cave drawings and aliens. It just so happens that RT used both, the times of India and an ATS thread, as sources in the article. In regards to the ATS thread, they had published a tweet from the ATS twitter account in their story:

Prehistoric paintings in a cave in India may indicate that alien travelers visited the site eons ago, an archeologist says. The paintings depict what appear as humanoids with featureless faces and a tripod object that could be a vehicle.

I thought it was pretty cool that they would share an ATS thread, as well as the news link. Here's the ATS thread in question:

Thought this would interest some of you.

Cool find

Anyone else notice the irony that some of the site ownership does not consider RT to be a valid source of information only to have RT use ATS as a source for information?

Some jimmies are about to get rustled...

LOL!

Ok then, what would you consider to be a valid source of information?

RT isn't perfect but they are no worse than all the other filth being put out, in fact they are much better than most since they dare to touch certain stories that other outlets won't - 9/11 truth for example.

Pretty much any mainstream outlet can be proven to be tabloid filth.

ATS, as well as some users, have been referenced in stories along the lines of the RT article. If I remember right it was Slayer and they also used some of the pictures he posted here.

Kind of cool that this website, especially since its a conspiracy website, to be used. To me it seems like the website has established itself "above the herd" so to speak.

RT just slipped a notch lower on a universially lowly ranked media outlets. That article doesn't work to their credit. While "The Times of India" sounds almost a equal to "The Times" both in the UK and the US, with that article it equates with tabloids. (But then, they were aiming at us UFO-type nuts, so little overall harm done to itself.) RT needs to be very careful in what they broadcast in the West. Once you lose your tentative hold on credibility, it is a hard-fought battle to ever reclaim it, if ever.

ATS is a very good source for information on a variety of topics especially the early stuff tucked away within the depths of various forums.

Maybe more outlets should do the same as RT, here you get all opinions on all topics.

Good going to the membership, after all, we are ATS.

I love ATS, and it's interesting to read and interact.. but I would never refer to it as a "reliable news source" .. not when one thread is about reptilians, another is about chem-trails and then "shadow people".. it's a fringe/conspiracy discussion site where there is a mix of both well researched and presented material mixed in with some really far out there stuff with no foundation to support it.

And that's why I love it here =)

you're kidding right? This just shows how much anyone can trust RT. They use member driven forums as a source. That's just too funny.

Can we have one thread where someone doesn't jump in immediately to declare in their infinite wisdom and personal assessment that the source in no good? What sources ARE good? There aren't any. Bitch about msn, bitch about fringe media and everything in between. Ffs, enjoy your 25 stars for bringing us up to speed on the fact that ALL sources are garbage.

Did RT broadcast it other than on the 'net? There are stories like this on many mainstream TV sites, but so often that's where they stay, and are not used on a TV channel unless for instance, some big gun with an 'ology says it's the real deal.

As for looking at the figures, alien or otherwise, it would be pretty moot if the paintings are a bit tricky.

There was a show recently, I think it was Hanger 1:The UFO Files, that showed a page from ATS on the subject they were dealing with. Maybe not used as a source, but cool to see ATS get some dap.

LOL!

Noted

Besides, the article, probably from the ' Indytimes' whatever is reasonably balanced in this paragraph,

'But Bhagat is also quick to point out further research is needed, and that the paintings have very little fading for something that is supposedly 10,000 years old. While he doesn’t seem to indicate that the paintings could be fake, such a possibility cannot be discounted without further research, and “Chhatisgarh presently doesn’t have any such expert who could give clarity on the subject,” according to Bhagat.'
So, what's all the fuss all of a sudden?

RT much like the Weekly World News or the Enquirer etc. do not even pretend to be serious new organizations. Mainstream outlets are at least held to a standard when it comes to sources and when they blow a story it is a big deal. RT is like ATS whatever the story of the day is that proves to be compelely false is ignored because a new crazier story is now up. They are not held to any standard because they do not expect anybody to really take the serious.
