Hitler was overly confident and believed his own BS too

Nowhere did I say I agreed with him. But people are drawn, for good and bad, to people who display confidence. The western leadership does not display any confidence on this issue. They are all over the map in their statements with no real cohesive message.

from listening to him, he appears to have very legitimate reasons for what he is doing.

The Western leaders are just stirring the pot, going for sensational statements...making more out of this than it actually is.

and why has not one reporter questioned the hypocrisy of Obama/Kerry/Cameron, et al on their statements?

I can't fault Putin for his reasoning, and fact is he is not reading a pre-planned speech, he knows what he is doing.

Politics aside, I find myself liking the way he gets grumpy with people asking the same questions again and again.

'It looks like you don't hear me'.

He is a politician but he is speaking the truth... its rather a sad day in America when a Russian politician doesn't need to lie.

He's speaking the truth as he sees it, and some of it does make sense.

But I don't trust any politician fully.

however Hitler had expansion plans for all of Europe.....Russian Federation are just responding to a request from a legitimate leader to help protect its citizens.

Indeed this move is advantageous to Russia also, and it does need to protect its assets in Crimea from the thugs that have initiated the coup of a legitimate government. These thugs who directly threaten the pro-Russian people in Eastern Ukraine.

A big woof to the dawg for the link.

I still think Obama could win this war of words, if he approaches it differently then he would normally - Street Style.

The scene, an office, with Putin sat waiting, Obamas 20 minutes late..

Obama enters the room in plan "homey" wearing a lakers basketball shirt, a pair of nike air and a Jayzee glitzy baseball cap backwards.

Obama - "Yo, Putin, listen up nigg+, my boy Hagel tells me you been stealing my turf on the eastside. Man you one ass dumb cracker.·"

Putin - " I do not understand you "

Obama - "yo, dawg you better be understanding me homey, you keep on with this Shi* Mother Fu++er and your boys gonna get capped, you all diggin me white boy, get the fu+k out of my hood or im gonna bounce you lilley ass back to Brighton beach, you hearin' me."

Putin - "I do not understand you"

Obama "Listen to me peckerwood mutha #+r...theres a line on the floor, its red, you see it, you see it cracker..don't cross it, jus don't go there boy or you and your crew gonna get capped you hearing me. Now im gone, you better be too, the east side is MINE..you dont mess with the west..you know my crew homey the N to the A to the T to the O..you all better be packin up your shi+ now."

Putin up and leaves thinking "why didn't i invade china".

Not to mention that in Russia's eyes the 1997 Partition Agreement gives them the right, at considerable monetary cost, to have 25,000 troops in Crimea.

But there were Russian troops seizing infrastructure before the legally deposed Yanukovych requested Russian help! What, does Putin have a time machine now?

Well this is ATS so it's time for a spanner in the works.
First, Foreign Press were banned from the interview.
Second, according to the Al Jazeera live blog it may be pre-recorded.

Putin is no longer making a live statement at 0830 GMT. It will be pre-recorded [AP]

They sourced this from Associated Press [AP]
live.aljazeera.com...

So is this whole thing staged BS?
I'll leave it for you guys to decide.
