1] Early this morning, we had several calls from people seeing flashes that appeared to move across the sky. It was cloudy, so no one saw anything clearly.

2] This morning we started to write up a story on the flash reports, when we received a form-letter fax from DHS asking all area news agencies to withhold reports of this story until clearance arrives.

3] Soon after the fax, an officers-only NJ National Guard call-up occurred. Another fax came through asking us not to report on that also. (I think we got it because our office manager is a lieutenant)

4] Later, two DHS agents arrived, seemed a bit confused, but urgent or scared, just perplexed if anything. They reassured us that these events are not connected to terrorism reports, and asked that our part-time science consultant (who works on weekends) come with them for some advice.

5] We were told FBI agents would arrive to work with us to follow up on the reports of flashes, but no one has arrived, and we don't know any more.

6] The only thing new we have is reports of some kind of impact (meteorite?) at 3:30 near Browns Mills, close to Fort Dix.

It shows incredibly bad judgement to run a "spook thread" at a time of heightened security sensitivityy after a new terror warning.
