I have no choice but to write
I can't seem to vocalize
the things I feel to anyone
without raising their spite
question?
have I retreated before the enemy lines
is denial upon the land like a plague
are we wearing dark glasses to shield us from eye contact
what will our 19 dollars a month truly supply
question?
will it find a cure for cancer
will it feed a starving child
will it save another pet from death
will it help a wounded warrior
question?
I am a veteran asking questions
is this still the country I grew up in
is this the democracy my teachers taught me
is there still moral and ethical standards
question?
are our religious leaders telling us the truth
are our political leaders telling us the truth
are our medias telling us the truth
is anyone telling us the truth
question?
am I telling myself the truth?

Very nicely written..

I write my pain out through poetry a lot.. It's like that's the only way I know how to express myself. I feel a lot of times words fail me when I try to voice my concerns or my pain... Poetry words tho, just flow right out with ease ... But sometimes I'll write a poem and then share it and then they get the wrong impression on what I actually meant!! Yikes..

Thanks for sharing friend. Hope you have a lovely day today.
Take care x

Sometimes I feel like if it weren't for friends like you here on ATS I would have no ones ear. I am glad I can share things here that would most likely end conversation with most people. I am not afraid of pain anymore and realize if I want to truly be alive I must face the pain of knowing there are children dying from disease and starvation every day. I feel honored by people who trust me to share their pain with me. Thanks for being one of those people and for listening to my pain as well. Peace to you and may you find joy wherever you look!
