These are just all facets of reality why should one have to choose one or the other, its quite possible to go for either depending on the situation.

Being married, I know perfectly well when to make a stand, when to run for the hills or even simply try a third alternative.
The world gives us all these choices which is great.

And anyway. What's with this holding out a carrot, dangling a teaser. Are you trying to get people here to think?
You toss out an ancient puzzle, attempted by minds great and small throughout our history and you intimate that you have a solution and then you don't present it for us to ponder? You wait, as if thousands of years of philosophy hasn't already weighted in on all aspects of this question? And then you want us to wait even longer?????

Duality is found only in our language.

Duality is a state of mind created by simple people to pigeon hole complex problems into something they can understand. Life rarely presents an either-or situation.

OH, How about this one. Ancient minds were just dribbling along with the breeze. Then along comes Aristotle who set up the either or meme and people were just sucked into it like a vortex in the ocean and have not been able to break free of it for thousands of years.

And, now that there is a below as there wasn't earlier, I guess it's time for you to chime back in and resolve this dilemma for us.

I love this topic. I think we have to learn how to flow with life. There are times for everything. There is wisdom if you know what to think, what to say and what to do, in every given moment. Most of the times there isn't a yes or no answer, there is diversity and we must learn how to live with it.

But people tend to see one-fits-all answers like, like to be happy just adapt to what is, don't try to change anything, just observe, accept and adapt.
In this example, there is a passive dogma, which is not realistic because there are times to be passive and adapt and times to be active and transform.

Just some thoughts.

Yes Manula. I do it on purpose. But maybe not funny. Just whimsical. This question of "either or" is one that permeates Western Civilization. It has set up the thinking of western man for a long time. "Right or Wrong". Good, or evil.
And the best one of all, one which has enslaved generation after generation of people,,,,,,,HEAVEN??????? or HELL???????

What a prison this simple issue has created for us. So you see, I laugh in it's face.

If there is passivity then that is what is. If there is aggression then that is what is. It is not that one chooses passivity or aggression or assertiveness - what happens is what is.
'What is' IS - it can be anything and is everything. However, naming it can make for an opposite to appear in mind - passivity, aggression which ever - is neither right nor wrong, good or bad - it just is.
The wanting it to be the other than what is conflicts and stops peace. If wanting other than what is happens then that is also 'what is'.
