The Dept of Human services in our town has bought a large (for our area) number of white vans and cars and trucks. They are mostly just parked for now but I am thinking at some point (when things change) they will get a logo. I believe they are all being trained by DHS but the for all we know they may end up have a UN logo one day.

Or they need some vans, cars and trucks and they ended up getting white ones.

Was thinking the same thing. Robin Sage, been going on at least annually if not more often for at least 30 years. If I'm not mistaken it's the final exercise before someone earns a Green Beret. It's my understanding that the locals enjoy it and play along and have for a long time. There was a pretty serious incident a few years ago where a Deputy(or some other LEO) killed a couple of soldiers who thought he was part of the exercise. Since that tragedy there has been quite a bit more press about when it's going on.

There must not be much new and interesting going on if Conspiracy Sites are spilling so much digital ink on spinning something that anyone with any military knowledge (or even just a bit of brief research) knows exactly what and why the operation exists.

Didn't we learn anything from Boston?
You couldn't tell the police from the military.
Same dress, same weapons platforms, same attitudes.
Don't expect to be read your Miranda rights when they come to your door.

I don't think police departments "buy" any of this military gear.
The Pentagon loves to give it away.
I can't decide which is more dangerous - militarized police or drones.
Neither one is going away soon, that much you can count on.

Been in NC the whole time hasnt it? Maybe an error in report, i don't know. either way Bringing up Robin sage highlights that LE and military cross train often, and has for a long time.

I'm thinking this is for Operation Robin Sage

I remember when a deputy shot a Soldier who was role playing during Robin Sage as well.

THAT stirred up a hornets nest. But hopefully, the communication has been fixed since then.

I see this as a good thing overall. The Soldiers learn something from the locals and the LEOs learn fire control.

It grates my nerves that almost everytime I hear of a LEO pulling the trigger, they end up emptying the mag.

Well, just look at the Boston "Police" after the marathon bombers.

Bostonites were SHOCKED to see that the Police had APC's, military humvees, and a ton of military style equipment and had the authority to go on door to door searches, shut down neighborhoods, etc.

Remember, police forces are also getting military style drones as well for use inside the United States.

No one pays attention to the little changes, until it's suddenly a BIG change, and way too late.

I have some insight for you as a First Responder. We/they/them/us train because we have to. For you. And when TSHF...you'll be glad we did...and do...and will continue to the whole time you post threads about "anybody know what up?"

Yeah. We're up. Every day, night, week, month and year.

Thats all.

It seems like a Sneaky Covert way to Circumvent the Constitution to me . U.S. Federal Troops are Banned from Occupying U.S. Soil so a Way around that is to militarize Civilan Police Forces . If Marshall Law is ever declared , then these Cops will have Military Training to Quell Civil Unrest . Illegal as Hell , but who is Complaining or doing Anything to Stop it ?

it's not about getting the cops to act like the military. it's about breaking down a soldiers natural aversion to engaging his fellow citizens. that's why the DoD does it. it's not about getting cops to think like soldiers. it's about getting soldiers to think like cops. so when someone gives the order for soldiers to "kill the protesters" they'll flip the saftey and fire. it's about making soldiers think that the citizens are the enemy, like cops already do. i give you ths history of the roman legions in one paragraph. sleep tight.

I think this is America without a budget to restrain it. The situation we've had running now since 2009...and it means they can just print up and throw out money to pretty much whatever the heck strikes their fancy with minor hassle to accomplish it.

So the Gi Joe types at DHS figure EVERY city and town needs Gi Joe types and next thing ya know, every city and town has access to apply for Gi Joe funds. What do we see next, but training to make what Uncle Sammy is paying to produce ...

Life with no lines to color inside of is just ducky, isn't it? Kinda like...doing whatever the whims dictate, eh?

from what we have been seeing lately it is a good idea for the LEO's to actually learn how to hit a target from people that can....after all LEO's are armed what is the point in them having guns if they cannot use them properly, hopefully it will also teach them to be less trigger friendly as they will have the ability to hit their target without freaking out

MAYBE, but in that case what they ought to be training the locals for is not shooting participants. Seems like there's an incident every year with the local SO.

Anyway, Richland County SC is way out of Pineland, and they've got all the local character actors they need for the exercise.

At any rate, while I don't know exactly who they're training with, although it's likely out of SWCS, the source article and some of the derivative comments are a bit off. It's not a violation of posse comitatus. SF and occasionally CAG do training of LEOs in both use of equipment and field tactics all the time. It's not that unusual (although the press often doesn't know) to get a SF consult on weird cases where your SWAT or detectives need some really off the wall technique or equipment your locals don't know how to do or operate.

What you're NOT allowed to do is participate actively. You can go along on the bust and to a small extent you can "advise on the fly" but you aren't allowed to do the shooting or arresting.

Glad you mentioned S.W.A.T. People have such short memories...

These teams came about to provide muscle and firepower when required, even on the streets, unless the prevalence of 'gangsta' weaponry has passed you lot by!
You can't have the citizens laying lead down range on the streets, it tends to kill people, especially the innocent as the 'gangsta' creeps don't have the training that the good guys have. Check the history of drive-by shootings and you will begin to understand part of the need for specialist teams. Street cops don't have that sort of weaponry in the cars they drive as a rule, although some may have had additional training to carry AR15 type weapons in certain circumstances.

Then there is the sheer size of your country and the opportunities it provides for extremist training in the boondocks. Just for perspective consider the UK, a much smaller and more crowded country with far less available land etc. for the bad guys to train in. Here we have recorded instances of extremist training camps and ordnance testing areas from Scotland to Wales. So, what do you think your good guys might just be training for, hunt the Easter bunny?!
In the UK organised crime has been hiding cannabis factories and commercial fuel laundering plants underground in shipping containers.

With regard to riot police looking like Robocop, what do you think the body armour and flameproof, urine and acid proof gear is actually for, fashion?! Face cover (masks) do cover the face, strangely, they also protect the face and prevent fluids, burning or otherwise dripping down your neck.

Don't want to get hit in the face by a baton round or CS canister then stay the heck away from rioting crowds of anarchists and criminals throwing rocks and petrol bombs at police or even worse shooting at them!

Paranoia seems prevalent when it comes to seeing boogie men behind every shaking bush, sometimes the reality is scarier than the fiction. At least on ATS the spectrum of views is as broad as anywhere else on the internet and folks can make their own minds up, preferably based on FACTS not speculation and fiction.

If it comes down to your thin blue line breaking though, Posse Comitatus will go out of the window along with enshrined Constitutional rights. TBTB, whoever they are at any given point in time are not going to allow a decent into anarchy.

There is usually a factual explanation for everything that happens, when those facts are not available to us, for whatever reason, out come the wild theories. Said it before, we don't need or should know the reasons for some things, but that's for Them to know and us to theorise...

It's not secretive when they put out a press release! In the article from the State, they announce when, where and why this is being held. Secretive would be someone stumbling across this exercise, getting a "tweet" out before being arrested and sent to Gitmo...never to be heard from again.

Sounds to me like the sheriff wants to give tactical training to his deputies and nothing more. Probably the sheriff is either prior military or someone who always wanted to be in the military.

Cheers to all the brave Men and Women in uniform for betraying their Country.

Not so very long ago I was thinking about what a soldier or policeman will do when ordered to use lethal force against civilians. Those army psychologist must have thought about such moments too and made sure that these forces come well prepaired. I am afraid that these servicemen and women are conditioned in training to do whatever their master want and can not think about wtf is really going on.
