OFF TOPIC! Why do we still use wood for power lines? I know why most metals wouldn't be used but what of plastics, rubbers or a combination?

Lord knows there not cheap...
When the wife and I started work on the new house I had to have 5 new power poles set to bring power to the site...


I couldn't have set the poles myself maybe even strung the lines??? problem is the power company demanded I buy my poles from them $8,000 each, then only they could provide the labor and equipment to set those poles and lines... if I refused they would have never hooked us up... stupid power companies
