Obama Closing US Embassy in the Vatican - Says it's 'unsafe'

According to the Obama administration - Benghazi was 'safe' but the Vatican isn't? Really? WOW.
The Vatican is a COUNTRY. It's not part of Italy.
But Obama wants the Vatican embassy duties to be switched to Italy.
He seems to think Italy is safe, but the Vatican isn't? This doesn't make sense.
The Vatican officially says they are fine with it.
I wonder what they really think of it.
Maybe they are happy not to have to deal with Obama??

The Obama administration has decided that the free-standing American embassy to the Holy See will soon be closed, and the offices for the Ambassador to the Vatican will be moved inside of our Italian Embassy.

As a part of the security reviews that followed the attacks on our embassy in Benghazi last year, State Department officials are now claiming that the current U.S. Embassy to the Holy See is no longer safe.

If their assessement is correct, then why not bolster security or simply move the Embassy to a new location instead of shutting it down? Are all ‘unsafe’ embassies being shut down too?

Plans to move the U.S. embassy to the Vatican onto the grounds of the larger American embassy to Italy, though in a separate building and with a distinct entrance, are drawing fire from five former American envoys despite the tacit consent of the Vatican itself.

Justified primarily on the grounds of enhanced security, the move is described by former U.S. Ambassador James Nicholson, who's also a former Secretary of Veterans Affairs in the Bush administration and a former chair of the Republican National Committee, as a "massive downgrade" in U.S./Vatican ties.

"It's turning this embassy into a stepchild of the embassy to Italy," Nicholson said

If I were Obama with his mixed Faith and Loyalties? I might consider the hallowed ground of the Holy See to be dangerous ground too. lol.....

You make a good point though. Benghazi was safe enough to stake our guys out like sacrificial goats to slaughter. The Vatican tho? Oh goodness! TOOOOOO dangerous. Gotta abandon the post at once and run up the White Flag.

The actions of my nation are such a deep embarrassment some days, I want to just go back to bed and try again tomorrow.

So what others are going to be closed ?? Maybe I should send him a couple of list a long and short. Really I think it has to do with where it is not safety at all. I wish I could dislike the guy more but I have a brother in law that deserves a bit.

Just the Vatican.

According to the Obama administration, all the others are just fine and dandy.
All the embassies in the Middle East ... all the embassies that have been threatened
all the embassies to unstable Muslim countries ... they are all just fine and safe.
BUT .. the Vatican embassy is too dangerous to remain open.

Thanks for posting. I think this is very big news! Maybe all roads no longer lead to Rome. I have some interesting theories brewing on this.

I think this feeds the thought that many have in regards to Obama .... everything he does downplays Christianity while at the same time everything he does protects and advances Islam. This is just one more piece of evidence to that thought. And closing the Vatican embassy is a pretty BIG thing!

I would assume (yes, I know) that is one of the safest embassies there is. I really don't get this line of thinking unless they got some valid threat or piece of information and they just don't want to release yet. I would think there is going to be a call for some kind of answer and they will have to have a press conference (whether you get the truth or not is another story). It's curious nonetheless.

I'm curious to why it's "unsafe". Does he know something we don't? A few things come to mind when I read this.

Not meaning to pull prophecy in this but there is a disturbing mention to some bad happenings in the 3rd secret of Fathima and this being the last pope. Could there be some relation to what is believed about the pope becoming a martyr?

Is it maybe due to some bad blood between him and the Catholic faith? Priests recently won against the obama care and are now exempt. Was this retaliation?

Maybe he knows of a pending attack against the church by middle eastern fanatical muslims? Doesn't want another Benghazi, perhaps.

Maybe he's trying to distance the sway that the church has over the US and it's people by stratigicly pulling away from the church a little at a time.


I'm really curious as to why and I would like him to be more clear on his definition of "unsafe".

I must add... Oddly, we just made a truce with Iran, and kicked aside the Vatican. How strange... I wonder where his loyalties really lie.

Could it be possible that congress is now aware of the reason Ratzinger stepped down?

I have a feeling someone has a lot of data on the child abuse scandal and are in a position to get that information out there. If so it has been coming for a while.

I for one would support any individual or organisation ousting these perverse monsters.

I saw a documentary the other day and learned that the age of consent in the city of Priests and Choir Boys has recently gone from 12 to 14. They seem to be a little scared I think.

I agree - this move makes absolutely no sense at all based on the info provided as to why.

So the question becomes - what is the real reason behind the closure?

Many hats will be thrown in the ring on this one...the religious hat, the doom porn hat, etc.

But one thing is certain - there is much more going on here than whatever the official OS (read: BS) is trying to pass off...

Now THAT is interesting speculation. Considering how he feels about Christians ... and Catholics in particular ... you never know. I wouldn't put it past him. But considering that he hasn't cared about Americans being stationed overseas (Benghazi), then I'd think he wouldn't care about them being in the Vatican if he ordered a false flag hit on it .... but you never know ....

I doubt that the high level Vatican secrets are known by our congress ... heck I"m sure Obama doesn't know them. The Vatican secrets are deep and eternal. Our congress and POTUS are only temporary employees for short terms.

Why does America need a embassy to a church? Without religion the Vatican wouldn't exist so why should we be doing anything diplomatically?

A few weeks ago I would have agreed that Obama probably didn't know the deep Vatican secrets but after it was discovered that he was tapping world leaders phones I'm not so sure.

Or maybe he got information back from the US Ambassador that caused them to want to pull out.

I think you are on to something! Notice the change in diplomatic relations with Iran. Such brazeness indeed! Kick the Holy See and Israel in the same week.

I completely understand his reasoning. I mean with the nuns slapping fingers with rulers and the priests with that intimidating black clothing and always carrying a "sword". It just shows he is truly looking out for the nation's best interests. (sarcasm)
