A new prototype flying machine based on the motions of jellyfish has recently been developed. It is only a matter of time before these contraptions are mass produced and sold as novelty toys. We can look forward to many mysterious "sightings" in the near future. Article with photos and video here:

I don't get scientists. What is, exactly, the use of this?

Right, spy camera disguised as insects or UFOs.

S&F for the find, mate!

The description of this event is a little vague, can you give a little more info?

Oh wow, you got the OP fixed.

OMG one stole your thread!!!

ETA - That's pretty neat. I suppose we will know when they finally hit the market because there will be "I saw a UFO jellyfish hovering over my house last night" threads!!

Technology never ceases to amaze me.

Wow, 2 grams and 8 centimeters. Smaller than I expected.

Actually when I saw the title I thought it might be a satire about what some are saying the "new" spouting asteroid is--saying it's a space jellyfish. LOL

Two grams eh?

Controlling such a light weight object in flight, is a feat of engineering and skill that can barely be believed! Surely every last little puff of wind or breeze would send such a small craft haywire in the air, unless of course the object carries, or is controlled by software which automatically counteracts the incoming wind speed and direction automatically, and even then, my God... what a smashing thing!

is that "tentacle" hanging from it electrified ?
[in keeping with the jellyfish theme]

This idea is actually taken from real UFO sightings. The first case I thought of was the case in Evora, 1959.

Possible connection?:

The big difference with the toys being made in the OP and the real sightings are, I don't think the toys will leave physical trace evidence behind

Yes! I believe that is the power/control cable. (Obviously, weight is a huge factor in a thing like this.)
