Subsidisation, another example of double standards

How is the US expected to be taken seriously around the world promoting free trade while subsidising its own industries. This is one example from the BBC of how cotton subsidies are hurting Mali.

(Subsidisies are not restricted to the US though, Europe's Agricultural policy is nothing short of hypocracy.)
