Yes, I commented on that thread, it is a huge logical fail.

The OP of that thread doesn't even understand that the individual mandate is not the same as the employer mandate, and that not all employers are corporations.

A polite request at this point before it gets out of hand.

Please stick to the topic of the thread. This isn't about mandates for the PPACA, which your entirely wrong about my position on anyway. It's a thread about the request to keep open the World War II Memorial for the Vets who come at great effort and cost to themselves and/or others ..and that request being summarily denied with a causal air, by all indications.

I'm on several threads for the other topic tho. I'll watch my reply inbox for anything appropriate to continue that line of discussion with, elsewhere.

what's this mean then?

In either case, the House is correct to demand a final determination and clarification of the mandated portions of ACA before moving forward.

is the house demanding a final determination and clarification?

This could literally be the one thing that kicks off riots and the beginning of some kind of civil war movement.

IF those cops blocking entrance into the veterans memorial, start anything with a veteran, like beat the crap out of one, and someone catches this on video, it will literally fan the flames of something much MUCH bigger, potentially

The two are kind of inter-connected.

This Representative who is just outraged that the memorial is closed is one of those responsible for closing it due to his obsession of trying to defeat the ACA through a CR.

I know it isn't convenient for your thread, because it exposes the game that this guy is playing and that he isn't genuine or really concerned at all about the WWII vets. He is just playing politics, and it seems like you are falling for it.

Excuse me? I'm never one to assume people don't read material before talking about it as if they know the subject. A couple mistakes on that made for painful lessons about assumptions. However, this requires no assuming. You simply have no idea what you're talking about with regard to this Rep. I can tell you the first thing I did when I saw his name on this yesterday was pull his biographic information and basic service record, if he had one.

Steven Palazzo is Mississippi's Representative for their 4th Congressional District and I'd say experienced but not so old in position to be hopeless....to the extent any of them are worthy of positive comments.

The remark on his motives is 100% over the top and out of line though. A quick check would have shown you that.

Prior to joining Congress in 2006, Representative Palazzo served in the United States Marine Corps from 1989 to 1996 and STILL shows as being a member of the Mississippi National Guard. He separated from the USMC as a Sergeant in the 3rd Force Reconnaissance Company (look that up... He was not a cook or gopher) and saw deployment in Operations Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom.

I'm not going to assume he cares nothing for vets as he's a combat vet himself. I find it appalling others DO assume that without even glancing to see if it may hold water as a theory.

*any errors in the above are certainly my own in copying from different sources used to look it all up. Any corrections, if one is needed, are welcome to insure that record is straight and accurate.

I really don't care which party should foot the blame for this incident but your Veterans should be respected.
To paraphrase Ronald Reagan : Mr Obamachev... Tear Down that Barracade.

www.politico.com...

Has a video which Rand Paul says, 'Goons' blocked WWII Memorial'.. IMO many things in this government shut down are a circus designed to get the most anger from the population for the least amount of effort..

Paul also said that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and President Barack Obama are “going to play a game” and that they “like the shutdown.”

Meanwhile, at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Wednesday, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) also suggested that the closure of the memorial was a kind of theater aimed at dramatizing the shutdown for the public.

Is basically what I was trying to say... Also the memorial was built by donations and not by government money.... is my understanding.

hahahah more guards than at Benghazi

New wave of WWII veterans move barricades to access DC memorial www.foxnews.com...

Democracy at work as defined by two groups with different ideas who refuse to give and take; negotiate... I keep waiting for some fist fights in the congress or senate like other democracies of the world have... Naw won't happen for after the first punch many would need oxygen and the heart paddles.... National park service web sights down.. Web cams turned off... It will get interesting if the government (guards) cracks some heads of the vets who are saying they are going anyway; nice the web cams are turned off (if true I did not check) for as we have seen before where a story is told and held unarguable until a hidden video is exposed then....Amazing the back pedaling and "shucks we really did mean what we said so our statement is under internal review for better CYA". ...

Given Congress cannot get anything done at work, reassign the senators and reps to escort these vets around the memorial. Additional duties will include providing water, snacks and battery charging for their scooters.

Vets get the option to refuse this service should they decide to be no where near a politician.
