Do you care whether you die when you are awake?

I just watched a documentary that included an old woman that chose to not take meds that might put her to sleep
when she died.

If you believe we don't go on in any way when we die, then this question is irrelevant. But if you believe we go on, then maybe this question is important.

So, how could it matter whether we are awake or not when we die?

After narrowly avoiding death on a few occasions, it might feel like seeing an old acquaintance, or respected adversary.

Though when it gets to be that close at hand people tend to hallucinate, or become delusional while conscious. Might be kinda scary, but might as well have fun with it.

I think it’s safe to say the last moments of our life are critical if not the ‘most critically’ important moment of our life.

The documentary is called, "Dying at Grace". Canadian.

The side of me that's dreadfully scared of pain, says... asleep.

The side of me that's infinitely curious, says... definitely awake!

Oh definitely in my sleep.

Though I suspect there comes a point where you go to sleep naturally before the dying process.

If there is any kind of pain or anxiety, I want a heroin drip at the ready, please.

Not sure if there is correlation between #tin yourself when dying awake vs asleep... I do not know that doing so asleep will result in pooing yourself, but dying awake will result in poo 95% every time.

I'll choose not pooing and die in my sleep.

Nice one.

Pretty sure it goes both ways. As soon as everything relaxes.... poo happens. And pee. Not always, but usually if there is anything in the bowls or bladder it "evacuates", or kind of seeps out.

(note to self: last meal request, five alarm chili)

I've nearly died from my body shutting down, it felt very calm and peaceful.

So as long as I'm not in excruciating pain, I'd rather be awake

I'm also 99.9% sure that once my heart stops I will know no more, as for my subconscious? Well that's the million dollar question

As someone who has experienced OOBEs, I don't fear death at all as long as it doesn't involve pain.

Point a gun at my head and I will tell you to go # yourself.

Point it at my leg and you will get a "yes sir!"...
