Why would they warn anyone about a cyberterrorism attack?

Why would America broadcast via MSM all of (well not all) but our plans of bombing syria so they can actively prepare??? Doesn't mean America is blufing nor that the Syrian Electronic Army is either.

It's just weird how this comes out... Another clock count down... Like the 2012 one.... Alas, I feel it's doom porn but I await a final verdict. Either way seeing this site and knowing the state of affairs really instills an unnerving feeling inside.

There's that, too. Having had the dubious pleasure of looking at their little outlets, their M.O. is generally do and then claim as opposed to threaten, do and then claim. Until one of those more likely to be "official" sources claims the website, I'd presume it's possibly a hoax. That could also explain why it's featuring the Anon stuff flickering in the background and the name. Whoever made it, if it wasn't the SEA, may not be aware that Anonymous and SEA are engaging in a cyberwar.

Occam's razor.

Although I agree with those who have examined it and think its a hoax it is definitely interesting - an indication of the times we live in. The aim, it would seem, of this hoaxer would be to spread even more tension into a world.

I was just thinking last night, as my computer began to blink and the Internet became super slow how much a cyberattack would affect us individually and collectively. TV and radio would continue to deliver the news but if it went completely dark I think people might panic - believing there was more coming. Not sure about that but in the event that were to happen (if even possible) they would have to have answers quickly to reassure the public.

Have no idea why a cyber attack even crossed my mind - likely all the Syrian stuff. And...keeping track of what they are saying about the 77 countdown. None of that helps.

I'm not entirely dismissing it either but viewing it as a probable hoax until it's actually connected to those channels that are likely to be SEA's public face. That said, there were references made that there were going to be "many surprises". www.bbc.co.uk... Just nothing at all linking that countdown site to the SEA.

That said, I find the SEA and other similar groups to be very disconcerting. I see things more like Dreine in that, as we computerize more and more of our infrastructure and more, it also risks leaving us more vulnerable to attacks. Maybe it's having previously lived with a systems administrator for years but so many people are really "end users" that may not engage in appropriate activities on what should be secure systems. That, in itself, is a terrible weakness. So, I agree with you, Diane...it's very worrisome but I'm less worried about a loss of internet connectivity for the public and more worried about the manipulation of algorithms, like the SEA's twitter "White House" attack and the like.

In another article, what about this?

EuroNews
In an email to Reuters on Wednesday, the SEA said if the U.S. military moves against Syria “our targets will be different.”

“Everything will be possible if the U.S. begins hostile military actions against Syria,” the group said in the note.

Stock Markets and Banks have already been disrupted.

Thus far, the SEA’s most disruptive act was in April when it broke into the Twitter account of the Associated Press and sent fictional tweets about explosions at the White House. The false messages sent the stock market into a downward spiral that, for a short time, erased more than $100 billion in value.

U.S. intelligence officials have blamed hackers sponsored by Iran for a series of so-called distributed-denial-of-service attacks against many U.S. banking sites. In DDoS attacks, thousands of computers try to contact a target website at the same time, overwhelming it and rendering it inaccessible.

In three waves of attacks since last September, consumers have reported inability to conduct online transactions at more than a dozen banks, including Wells Fargo & Co, Citigroup Inc, JPMorgan Chase & Co and Bank of America Corp. Banks have spent millions of dollars to fend off the hackers and restore service.

In cyber space anything is possible, is it not?

I started this thread a few days ago, didn't get much response to it at all.

SEA has more surprises planned

I believe I remember seeing your thread. I wonder what the Syrians are up to. On 4chan and another forum, I saw that there is an attack on the power grid of the US on Oct 1st. This video is interesting

So did the bomb go off they said they planted in a building on Nov 5th?

I never heard about that happening. I say a hoax propaganda work. Just like the Syrian Electronic Army. A hoax. The recent hacking of the NYT was the UK attacking them over Snowden leaks.

citizenjournalistdotorg.wordpress.com...

Has anyone seen the kind of tech they use in syria? kina old news,.
not too worried about a threat from them in the electronic world,.
the cast from Oceans 11 have a better chance of doing any damage to the world

Salam aallaikum, I’m here to bring awareness of the upcoming rising tensions regarding the so called land of the free and our precious territory. The stupidity and ignorance by your government is beyond unacceptable. The world should be prepared to witness a blackout of which the likes no one has seen before. There is going to be a surprise that will shock the world and shake all social media sites. So be prepared. You were warned… The stage is set. Get ready.

However, there is still nothing about this via the SEA's twitter and, curiously enough, their "new" facebook account that they link via twitter and was filled with arabic is gone already. Yet, the one linking #opblackout is still there...Isn't that curious? You tell me which one is real.

twitter.com...
Gone: www.facebook.com...
Potential Fake: www.facebook.com...
New Official: www.facebook.com...

Now, if you look at the links, you should notice the "official" ones have a number at the end of it. That number is the version number for the SEA. Every time the facebook account gets banned, they make a new one. 224...225 and tomorrow will probably be 226. Facebook has taken down the SEA's official facebook at least 224 times since they joined it about a year ago. Yet, the Facebook page linking the #opblackout is still up? Right...

I would guess that the reason why it's still up is because it's not the real SEA page. Whoever is doing this is really quite dumb because what they are doing would be construed as making terrorist threats. It's going to be a heck of a price paid for a prank. Not a peep from the real SEA on #opblackout....

Considering that there has not yet been a peep about this on any of the official SEA social media sites, I wouldn't sweat it. They would've claimed it by now and some video of a guy pretending to be Altair from Assassin's Creed doesn't impress me The only thing that would actually convince me that this is real is if the official SEA accounts were linking this stuff.

But they aren't.

Haha some anon kiddies having fun, I guarantee ya the SEA has nothing to do with this, and anyone who thinks they can black out the entire internet is on something good.

Their version of fun may not end up being so fun with them. If I'm right, I'm actually worried about the dumb kids behind this and I feel really sorry for their mothers.

I don't think they'd target the US army though.

If anything, they would probably target (if this is actually genuine and not some ramblings of a teenager in his or her bedroom) Governmental institutions, power and energy systems and other similar infrastructure.

Probably won't go down well with the general public though, especially if it's freezing cold and people start dying because hey can't heat their homes, etc.

But i seriously doubt they would go for 'hardened' targets like military forces.

How does one go about guaranteeing the loss of a war ?

Make the mistake of underestimating the capability of one's enemy.

Is it too far out to guess maybe:

the 'Syrian Electronic Army' grid attack and power outage MIGHT be a new false flag needed to get into Syria with war? Would that work well for the Obama administration?

"This is not a test.. bleep blop blorp.. We were cyber attacked by Bashar al-Assad's cult of electronic hackers- that's why none of your phones or electronic devices work, and the powers out, so..- can we drop bombs now?"

Or could TheRedneck be right- and we see sarin use at a football game?

Thoughts?

The real Syrian Electronic Army has spoken via twitter:

Syrian Electronic Army: Note: We didn't publish any video about an "operation", and that Youtube channel doesn't belong to us. #SEA twitter.com...

Perhaps this should be moved to the hoax bin?
