Orcas
(whales)

Huge pod of orcas off Galiano Island, BC Canada

Published on Aug 28, 2013
A large pod of orcas swam close to shore off Galiano Island (close to Vancouver). Amazing! Mind the excited lady cheering for the whales.

Enjoy

Magnificent mammals Bob,
The lady was pretty squeally, but the pod of Orca were awesome.
Did you notice in the last 3 seconds or so-one specimen rolled belly up,then 360 degrees spin as if to pose for the camera!!
Watch the last few seconds to see,its great.
I think by that time they have all told each other there is a squeally lady up ahead, and this one does a belly roll just for her.
They can communicate over long distances, and I bet they were chatting about her.
A novelty for them maybe?

Look harder friend, you have some great species over the border(I am in Wales).

You have Otters and Voles,Red Kites in parts,Seals on the rocks in places, and the occasional Dolphins off the coast..Buzzards,Deer,Crested Newts,Pole Cats,Moles, and the strange roaming creature known by the name of Nick Cleggers.
You probably have many cool critters within 100 yards even in a city-Bats,Hedgehogs,Foxes,Squirrels.

If you are more rural, you have even more critters.

I've had more than one dream that I was caught up in a pod and I was in a bay or straight that looked just like that. I always imagined my dream must have been off of oregon or washington, but apparently canada looks also similar to my recurring dream. Don't know wha it means, but always feels scary, even though the orcas don't hurt me. Also feels like the end of the world

I love whales though, so the dream is just a bad dream.
Here's another video I saw

That list of British wildlife is all well and good, but hardly exciting to look at. I live on the south coast and the only sea creature I've ever seen is a washed up jellyfish lol. Britains largest predator (the fox) woop de doo! Lives in my garden, and all they do is scream like banshees in the night.

Here is a cool/fun link for orca lovers out there. I just found this last night

Orca swf

it will open up a browser window with an orca that follows your mouse around.

It is really cool

I admire how their pods carry identities and culture with them.
