Remember when our President was a candidate and mentioned having been to..he figured...57 states? Well, who would have thought, by the time he leaves as our President, there may BE 57 states. lol... The people of Colorado seem to be taking the next major step toward their dream of a separate North Colorado, divorced from the exceedingly liberal policies which dominate the Denver/Boulder Metro area, and so by extension, every rural county as well.

The Weld County Commissioners voted unanimously at Monday’s meeting to place a measure on the Nov. 5 ballot asking voters whether they want the county to join other rural counties in forming another state.

“The concerns of rural Coloradans have been ignored for years,” William Garcia, chairman of the Weld County Commissioners, said in a statement. “The last session was the straw that broke the camel’s back for many people. They want change. They want to be heard.”

My state has a similar situation although not nearly as lopsided as Colorado. Missouri is about 95% Conservative on the county to county level. A few counties across the whole state aren't majority that direction for world view. Those happen to number Kansas City and St Louis among them. Until the southern area gained population to make it a fairly even split, even under these circumstances? Our state basically ran by the desires of those two cities and believe me...NOT by the wishes of a good % outside them. We solved our issues...Colorado, has another approach.

Three other rural counties — Cheyenne, Sedgwick and Yuma — also plan to place the 51st state referendum on the fall ballot. At least three more counties plan to consider the proposal this week at their commission meetings, said Jeffrey Hare, spokesman for the 51st State Initiative.

Known for its agriculture and oil and gas production, Weld is the largest of the Colorado counties exploring a break with the state after the legislature’s sharp turn to the left with bills restricting access to firearms and doubling the state’s renewable-energy mandate for rural areas.

The gun issue is the driving force here but hardly the only issue. Politicians have GOT to get it through their heads. They represent EVERYONE. Not just the side which paid them to get to office. They need to consider the needs of ALL. Not simply the groups who promise them support for their next election. If they consistently fail to grasp that minor factoid? States may just leave them their Offices...but representing a FAR smaller area than they ever imagined they would be.

As determined as one side is to have it their way? The other side is JUST as determined to see it is NOT 'one way'. Notice I didn't use labels in this line? There was no need to. In this? They are interchangeable at the elected level.

I really hope they succeed in this.

I really do they are not being represented, they are being taken advantage of, and it is their right, their duty to throw off any government that is not representative.

I support North Colorado.

Well, if it's not one thing then it'll be another. Montana has their firearms manufactured outside and beyond Federal law of any sort. So they state and so they'll defend if pushed. There is another issue with that 'Made in (insert state) stamp on the frame for in-state commerce. My state has not only been backdoored by DHS in unbelievable violation of our own state law and covertly to hide it all with Real ID equipment being installed, but as I've mentioned? We outlawed the most critical parts of his Obamacare plan AND any options for outside authority to fine or sanction any resident of the state for failure to comply with those areas (mandate and exchange). That is a stand that will force a push at some point.

Colorado is doing things more openly ..but no less directly. Poor Obama...He has a building revolt in many states right now and a revolt as real as King George ever got in his face. This is just coming or at least starting without guns and without violence. The feds will be the ones to change that .....and then discover, perhaps terminally, that not EVERY state is operating without agreements in place to offer mutual support.

As a Weld County resident myself, I fully support this. And it's not just about guns, that was just the latest insult in the long list of insults coming out of Denver. Recreational use of things we cannot mention, water rights, and energy production regulation are among several other sensitive issues.

But one suggestion, Weld and the other rural counties should keep the name Colorado. Denver, Boulder and all point west can have the name East California.

Being from the Republic of Cascadia, I applaud all attempts to peacefully secede from the rest of us.

I may be a pinko liberal but I'm well aware that our nation is too centralized for our own good. I would be far more comfortable with an EU type of situation in North America.

Well, I'll tell you what. You're one "pinko liberal" I wouldn't mind sitting down and buying lunch for. It takes a lot to say opposition one is fundamentally opposed to for ideological reasons has the right to exist and live that way despite the strong passion. In this day? It takes courage to come out and say these states of ours are United but that doesn't make us the United STATE of America to be forced into a "One size fits every last person" mold of living across every one of them.

Seriously, what needs to be done is to cordone off the large metropolitan areas in every state, let them have their own set of laws, and then let the rural areas live under their own laws - different legislative bodies and representatives for each.

Let the welfare people be supported by the rich liberals - let the immorality of abortion and the stupidity of "gun free zones" be in the large urban areas - and let the rural people make their own laws.

There can borders - like the different states are now.

Section 3.

New states may be admitted by the Congress into this union; but no new states shall be formed or erected within the jurisdiction of any other state; nor any state be formed by the junction of two or more states, or parts of states, without the consent of the legislatures of the states concerned as well as of the Congress.

www.law.cornell.edu...

Does anyone think the US congress will go along with this new state?

I agree 100%. The working people of this country are being represented less and less. Family values are being destroyed by public schools who are only interested in teacher union contracts and whats best for them, not the students. Wake up Americans! The lierals are about socialism and want to take away your rights and make you dependant on government. The more they can give you, the more control they have over you. I'm from Minnesota and for the first time in my life am embarrassed to say so. The world laughed at Jesse Ventura, but he was ten times the governor that this goofy clown mark dayton is!

I applaud this type of thinking......

Especially coming from a " pinko liberal"

BTW, Your response is why ATS is one of the greatest mediums out there, to get your point across.

Thanks Cuervo.......

I live north of Pravda on the Lake (madison, wi) last night, my BF went to work and stopped to get coffee at a convenience store just north of the Dells (he's a semi-driver, it was 3AM) He walks in and sees 2 black kids giving the only other person in the store a hard time (the counter guy) and hears the counter guy say "-or I'm calling the police" My BF looks at the one black kid wearing a hoodie up over his head and says "Hey, Trayvon, you better put your hoodie down because you picked the wrong part of the country to be giving this guy a hard time" The 2 shuffled around and left.

The car license said Illinois - which means Chicago.

Something needs to be done to keep these criminals in their own element and not spreading their crap around to people who aren't going to put up with it - and shouldn't have too.

Let the liberal idiots deal with thier own made problems.

Washington State East of Seattle etc needs to do the same thing. Horrific lopsidedness by liberal idiots abusing the rest of the mostly conservative other counties.

Happy, you from WI?

Fellow Cheesehead here.

Madison has a very bad problem with folks coming from Chicago, and Illinois for a while. I have to say we now have conceal and carry, and a Governor who isn't afraid to fight Unions and Government waste. I am happy for that actually.

Former union registered nurse working for the state of Wisconsin, and darn glad not to be forced to give my $30.00 to the liberal democrat cause through the SEIU.

I sure hope we can keep Walker in for awhile and stem the idiotic liberal spending democrats at bay in the state.

Wi has only a few urban liberal spots - Madison, Milwaukee County, and up by LaCrosse (college town). But Milwaukee/Madison and a lot of voter fraud seems to throw us to the democratic idiot running for presidency at the big election times.

They had college students openly saying they voted many times in the last presidential election - What are they teaching in college these days? Of course, none of them were prosecuted for voter fraud.
