Alleged alien's head found in a graveyard entertains Medjimurje (Croatia)

This is the funniest thing I've seen in a while. Honest if this turns out to be anything but a piece of a tree I'll be very surprised.

The Mayor obviously has nothing better to do with his time. Maybe he is innocently trying to coax tourists?

From doubtfulnews.com :

The twisted, soft-bodied remains – which seems to have a beak-like mouth in the centre – were unearthed in Medjimurje where gardeners were extending the local cemetery. Mayor Ivan Stefic, seen here holding the head, explained: “It was found about one metre under the surface and gave the workers quite a shock.” “I know it sounds crazy, but we can’t think of any more rational explanation for what we’ve found,” he added.

Uncovering an as-yet 'unidentified' object and the most rational thought is to conclude it as being the head of an alien??

Honest? I wanted to post this for the lulz.
(I also hope no one takes this seriously.)

Well, I figure if they were digging in a grave yard, I would want to be certain its not some decayed head they managed to lop off with an errant shovel.... lest I be called a looney...

When it comes to these things you have to wonder if it blatant attempt at making sensational out of the mundane...

But I will await the award-winning follow-up expose the reporters are likely to produce...

Edit to add:

Driftwood huh? ... at least they can take it to a lumberyard for analysis... that's so much cheaper!

yeah. I was just thinking the same... I must commend the Mayor for at least doing the right thing by science... er, ja at least he's getting it analyzed - maybe it is some fossilizing fancy? Still - alien head
