Was a kid on family vacation but do remember my Aunt crying over the news - couldn't understand why at the time but grew to appreciate the man's talent later in life.

A few of my Elvis favorites - feel free to add any story's or songs.

RIP King

Obligatory vigil at Graceland?

Thousands honor Elvis Presley at Graceland vigil

Check! Yup.. Must be that time of year again. I suppose the sighting reports have stopped by now, eh? After all, what is he supposed to look like at nearly 80?

It's the King tho.... R.I.P.

Ah Elvis...

I couldnt give a crap. Jerry Lee Lewis was far superior in terms of raw talent, energy and musicianship. The Kings popularity was nothing to do with his level of talent. People just prefered him, because lets face it, the taste of the vast majority of human beings on this planet is utterly appalling, rendering most folks unable to appreciate the correct hierarchy of most anything, from politics to music in terms of quality.

Look at it this way... Jerry Lee Lewis played a burning piano. What did Elivs do again? Apart that is from prove his popularity? What makes Elvis the King exactly? Is it JUST because he died on the throne?

Elvis was a pill crazed hillbilly...
He felt so threatened by John Lennon moving to New York, he had his movements tracked by the FBI.
That being said...he is the perfect icon for the US. Suddenly on top of the world, becomes corpulent and lazy, then dies on the crapper...
