I am not ready to give up yet. These are my ideas:

1) We need to quit blaming each other and find the many things we can agree on.

2) Dissolve the IRS. This agency has lost the complete trust of the America people.

3) Elect all new politicians. We could pick people out of the phonebook and be 17 trillion in debt.

4) We must put aside partisan politics. It has led us here.

5) Let's fix this now !!! We are American's first. A rising tide lift all boats.

These are my five things. Let's find what we can agree on. No dealing of the race card.

Your turn.

The ones at the top want to stay at the top and they like this mess because the mess gives them the ability to control the mess. Haven't you noticed they don't keep the most violent criminals locked up anymore, they serve their purpose to promote fear better if they are out.

Instead of 5 things lets expanded on you list.

Get ride of Home Land Nazis and NSA, lets keep it simple, CIA, FBI let's drop all those other agency's that don't work.
Revamp the Welfare program so it makes sense and keep those off of it that don't need it.
Kick the United Nations out of the US, we hosted them long enough, let some other country put up with there BS.
Stop paying everyone off to like us, you either do or don't.
Get ride of Fema, let the red cross do the work, they seem to have a better handle on it than Fema.
Reinstate the Civilian Conservation Corps.
Recall our troops (ALL OF THEM) pull out of all those countries we are in and let them fight it out, then we can go and pick up the pieces if they want our help.

I guess I have many more but we will keep the list short

Individually represent the ideal you wish to see nationally. What is happening here is that corporations and lobbies have run amok, and put themselves above law, usurped the power from the government by corrupting our immoral politicians.
So one thing the individual might do, is to stop consuming crap from the corporations. Invest locally and help develop your region to be self sufficient to the greatest extent possible. Stop giving your hard earned money to the corporations that are destroying you, the economy, and the environment.

Conscious individuals making such choices, find one another. And in communities, more and more essentials become locally available, as more individuals contribute to local economy.
So don't wait until it all crumbles to begin building anew. Begin NOW, Do you live in a city that gets ALL its food and necessities brought from afar by trucks daily? (not you in particular, OP, but all of US.)
Rant forum, right? Thanks.

We have to keep the list short...

It must be short enough to be read on a cell phone or just tweeted.

We must have something we can all agree on...But I'm not holding my breath.

ADD: Some of those are good...

What about only electing people that pledge to remove 10 laws a month?

Time for a serious discussion on term limits. The government is people.

We are "The People"...

we all have to have rule which i understand but those that rule have no understanding of what the common people have to go through.

any of them lived in the real world then maybe they would understand.

they are so wrapped up in their own little world that none of us really matter, until they experience what most people go through then they never will.

I kind of have to agree with you.

It's great that there is such a diverse group of people not only on here, but in the world at large. It's awesome that with the advent of the internet we can come together to discuss all kinds of problems the world has.

Having that been said, I am getting tired of pointing out problems and never finding solutions. What inevitably ends up happening is people just argue to prove that their views are the correct ones. When we get mired in arguments, everyone looses.

Instead of this, we ought to be acknowledging and trying to understand opposing viewpoints, agreeing to disagree, and trying to compromise on a solution.

Your idea would work if everyone involved was an honest broker. Human nature dictates that there would be those that get involved for their own profit and benefit, corruption would ensue, and we would be right back where we started. I am a Constitutionalist, and I believe in what our Founders did (for the most part... I have a small problem with the Federalist model), but the elephant in the room is that our Founders KNEW that the Constitution and the Republic would not stand for long. What they did was create a system, which is the most perfect system a group of imperfect humans could create... founded in and on God. They knew their creation would fall victim to the powers and influence of secularism and evil, but they created a system that the righteous could find moral high ground to stand on and fight over, against the godlessness of the world, because they knew how this all ends.

That is great assessment of the current situation.

Funny thing happened in my town. We lost power to millions of people for 20 hours.

That day changed our neighborhood. We have made great friends of from that one day.

Instead of watching TV we spent the evening staring at our beautiful universe.

It's no wonder our forefathers were so wise...

Lets agree on this, the terms of congress and senators should be limited to something like 10 years, then they become out of touch with the real world.

Also I have always wonder why we all work so hard to earn a pay check and those above us make millions or at least a 6 figure salary, we should put a cap on salaries in DC, to keep them under the 6 figures and see how they like to live day to day. (personal note between my wife an I, our take home pay is less the 45 thousand)

We also need to start looking at the insurance company's, lets see I pay health insurance which we hardly use, dental insurance (still have my teeth), Eye Insurance , home owners insurance, Car insurance, (a lot of commercials on tv for this one), Have never filed a claim in 30+ years, but they still keep taking my money, the home owners insurance bothers me, why am I paying for those people (No offense implied) that want to live in tornado alley, hurricane areas, flood zones, fire zones etc.

Insurance company's are making too much money and denying two many claims

I would also change some laws, for example why do criminals have more right than victims? Why do prisoners have three meals a day, education paid for in prison, Weight rooms, TV rooms, ect, lets cut them off from all the privileges and go back to sitting in the cell for the duration of your sentence and read these 30 year old books.

And last but not least out of the 100 or so things I would change is why does DirecTV and Dish offer local channels that are not part of your own state, example I get Minneapolis channels and I don't get not even one Wisconsin channel, Bad weather comes they have full coverage of it until it enter Wisconsin, I know more about the Politian's in Minnesota than I do in Wisconsin.

Once again the short list
