US Secretary of State Colin Powell today ended any doubt that President Bushs second term could bring about a change in foreign policy by stating the US will continue to pursue an "aggressive" policy abroad.

The US Secretary of State has said that his country will continue to pursue an "aggressive" foreign policy.

In an interview with the Financial Times, Colin Powell said President George Bush would not alter or curtail his policies abroad in his second term.

"The president is not going to trim his sails or pull back," Mr Powell said in his first interview since the election.

"It's a continuation of his principles, his policies, his beliefs," he told the London-based newspaper.

The president had won a mandate to pursue a foreign policy that was in the US national interest, he said.

Oh well, looks a definite four years of the same then. This line of the article particularly makes it sound like at least one more war is coming: "Mr Bush would take a multilateral approach, he said, but the US would act alone where necessary."

Will be announcing his resignation here soon as well. He will not tarnish his name anymore than it already has been.

Interesting article Saerlaith.

The list, which begins with the destruction of Fallujah in Iraq and ends with the development of ''appropriate strategies'' for dealing with threats posed by China, Russia and ''the emergence of a number of aggressively anti-American regimes in Latin America,'' also calls for ''regime change'' in Iran and North Korea.

The list's author, Frank Gaffney, the founder and president of the Centre for Security Policy (CSP), also warns that Bush should resist any pressure arising from the anticipated demise of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat to resume peace talks that could result in Israel's giving up ''defensible boundaries.''

Yeah, forget peace talks, let the fighting continue!

Gaffney was also involved with PNAC. The Neo-Cons have got what they wanted so far, If this is their new Christmas list we should all be worried.
