I actually see the polarity and magetism as the reason earth spins due to the iron core. So there is more to reversals in what they can do.

And yet, we know that the magnetic poles have reversed many, many times in the past, and the rotation of the earth was not affected. So the evidence seems to be against "more".

We don't know when and if the rotation was affected. It would be a different process for slow reversals, there may always be some magnetic forces. Its the few sudden ones that would be a concern, where they take their time and suddenly due to some occurrence, be it cosmic forces, or energies, suddenly happen all at once. That is not the typical one.

However, there are records of natives who have said, the stars changed orbit, there were floods and they climbed the highest mountains and cast bets as to what direction the sun would rise next...

Scientists seem to ignore these records.

We don't know the earth hasn't halted in her rotation before.

Sure we do. Go doodle up the rotational energy of the Earth, then compare that to what it would take to place it in orbit around itself. You'll find that there's more than enough energy to blow the thing to bits if you magically stopped the rotation.
