What is the value of a flag and or its purpose?

No value per say
A flag is a way of alerting other members to something you feel is worth a read. Be it your personal interest or something you feel should be read. It may be funny, or way out there or just insightful.

The more flags a thread attracts the more likely it is to stay in the public eye for a longer period of time and be seen by more members.
