Oh, I can understand! There is a LOT I would like to say here (and have said, not online) about that particular person, and this particular action. If there was any justice left in this nation (and that's a very hypothetical "if"), those families would be able to win a major lawsuit, with awards that would rival the national debt.

All I can say here is that justice WILL be done. God sees, and God hears. Time grows short for that sort. Feel free to rant in a PM if you like. Trust me; you can't possibly say anything I am not thinking.

No, these days, it's anything that someone else says they find offensive. As a veteran, and a soldier's wife, I can tell you that things have changed, a LOT, in recent years, regarding the treatment of Christians in the military. I understand you might mean well, but you are, in fact, misinformed. Trust the people that know, that experience this bigotry.

Well technically it is the same god, Sabians, Jews, Christians and Muslims are all monotheistic religions holding Abraham as their founder and revering some of the same books, if the Christianity can claim that the Jews are wrong regarding the identity of the Messiah (and many other things), I don't really see the problem with Islam contradicting Christianity here and there.

Given that the one of the most important precepts of Judaism is that you never change the contents of the holy book (a view also held amongst Muslims) but the contents of the bible as we know it today were decided at the council of Nicaea around 300 AD and decisions were made to ignore problematic taboos (such as not eating pork) it could just as easily be argued that the God of the Christians is not the God of the Jews (which would in turn render Jesus' claim to divinity somewhat difficult).

As Jesus said, let him without sin cast the first stone.

I would be interested to hear your reasons why they aren't the same though, the Covenant never actually denied the existence of other gods, it was just an agreement between the Jews and YHWH that they would only worship him so it's certainly a possibility - but one which can be equally applied to all Abrahamatic faiths.

God isn't based on Abraham, so a group claiming that they are isn't a reason to assume they follow the same God. Islam is based off of claimed revelations from some "angel" who is said to have visited Mohammed out in the desert. Much of what is believed and taught is in direct conflict with the Bible, and with Christianity. The Jewish people believe in a Messiah; some simply don't believe that Messiah is Jesus. However, the Old testament directly prophecies Jesus, in many places. There aren't any major contradictions, as there are between Islam and Judeo-Christian beliefs. As for things like eating pork, that's a minor issue. First, that restriction was given to the Jewish people to set them apart, and for some pretty clear health reasons. Second, in the NT, such restrictions on believers were lifted. Such a small thing isn't a reason to claim the two groups (which do, btw, cross over at times) believe in a different God. Ever hear of Jews for Jesus? With Islam, though, there is a very clear hostility between them and the other two. That alone is a reason to assume they don't follow the same God. It isn't about casting stones, either, but about discussing belief systems. We ALL sin; that's why we need a Savior.

I read the prayer transcript (translated) and nothing in it indicates the cleric cursing or blaming the dead soldiers. it is a very neutral prayer and common language of prayer was used in it. It can be called a generic prayer directed for audience in multiple faith.. A prayer directed to a fully moslem crowd would have different wording.

so please dont spread any smear on this muslim cleric as he was not there on his own but got invited , and he was not trying to insult the dead or their families..
