DOOM PORN!!! dooom!!!!!

Where is your scientific proof for any of this? Oh wait, you don't have any . You have the statements of 1 climatologist and even then I don't see him saying the world is about to blow up.

Mt. Etna's (already) 'blown' 13 times this year. Mt. Etna on ATS

She also just been added to the 'Hall of Fame' of the World, if you will. Mt.Etna inducted into UNESCO World Heritage Site

My point? I wouldn't tempt her either way at the moment. She's either going to BLOW (again) or now that she's achieved her glory - *go back to sleep for a century or two.

peace

*Oh yeah, I doubt the 'going back to sleep' part.

I am hyper sensative and intune to climactic disturbances. I feel a cataclysm is approaching the earth.

Abbey777

Consider the number of road fatalities world wide in the past 25 years compared to those directly killed by volcanoes since 1586 (450years ish)....

Humanity is a mere blip on the Earth and we actually live a very fragile existence so go an enjoy the life you were given and try not to focus on the stuff which is out of your control....

Regards

it wouldn't be anything like a pulsating energy wave around you or when you stand on the ground feel movement, would it?

cos I get that from time to time and not sure exactly what it is.

Aside from the financial doom, will anyone survive?

Yes. Unless all the population on Earth stands on top of a blowing volcano, Mankind will survive, just like it survived Indonesia.

Wow. I knew Indo was on top of Australia, but I had no idea. So we survived it tho?

That's a relief.

*wipes brow. Ignores exploding sun*

C'mon guys. Op's only playing. Not a brown dwarf in sight but everything else? where are you all.. oO

This will happen because the ice is melting causing the fast heating of the earths surface and allowing more holes and gaps to let the volcanoes spew forth. This will coincide with the great ww3 middle east war and fulfil the Jesus red letter prophecy of the sun and moon will become like sack cloth before the great and dreadful day of the Lord

sorry OP..but...how is Etna yours ?

There has been a marked increase in volcanic activity the last decade or so.
At least it appears that way to us ignorant humans, and considering we don't really have much historical data it's impossible to tell how often such things happen.

It is clear that Earth has always been very volcanic and active, some periods more than others obviously.

Although I do not think anything fatally severe will develop, I do agree that we are going through an "active phase" currently, at least compared to the "less active" period prior to it.

The problem here is that we are forced to make guesstimates from very limited data.

We don't know if there are magma-cycles on some geologic time scale.
We don't know if this phenomena occurs often or rarely, or even how many periods of increased activity have occurred in the last million years. It could have been a few or it could have been hundreds of instances. Impossible to tell.

We need more historical data to compare and contrast with.
Lacking that information means we actually don't have a clue what we are talking about.

Well I know a cataclysm is going to hit Earth, it's inevitable.

The question is not if, but when.
And none of us have the power to foretell the future...

So we are left with one inescapable conclusion: To Prepare for the Worst, and Hope for the Best.

Too much Glenn Beck on your TV/Radio/iPod/Tablet/Phone/Brain?

Me thinks the air is clouded with "smoke".

Seriously...Mother Nature will uncork her fire pits when and if she feel's it's needed.

ETA: Your title is over sensationalized by the way.

Mankind would probably survive...but I wouldn't count on what condition that came in. Honestly. Krakatoa altered global temperatures and overall climate for some time afterward. That was just one eruption, although an epic one on scale. It was audibly heard clear to Australia and the event happened in Indonesia.

So many blowing at once? Well.... I wouldn't worry about having a sunburn or tan ...or growing crops for quite some number of years, to say the least.
