Don't know about the rest of ATS, but the news this week has been a bit grim. Most of humanity needs, at least ocassionally, something that makes
them smile and feel a bit of mirthfullness. Few things in the world are more smile and joy inducing than babies... especially baby animals. So, I
present to you the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center's first births of 2013. Baby Musk Oxen Lucy and Ricky.
(I do not know which calf is shown below, sorry)

On Saturday, two of the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center's musk oxen cows went into labor, birthing two healthy calves early Sunday. Named
Lucy and Ricky, the babies are the first of the year and the first pair ever to be born on the same day in the center's 20 years in
operation.
Spring is an amazing time in an area which sees such a long, cold winter. Everywhere you look you find new signs of life and rejuvination. It is
actually an awesome experience for anyone looking to reground themselves and realize that even in the harshest environments, life continues and simple
joys can be found everywhere. Seems like a great lesson to remember whenever the news of the day starts to weigh on us.
